TKO 600 Shifter handle

I just bought a brand new TKO600 GM 9 piece starter kit which includes the following from AMP Performance. Tremec TKO 600 4618(.82 OD) transmission, short throw shifter, 31 spline slip yoke for 1330 u-joints, needle roller pilot bearing, rubber mount w/hardware, mechanical speedo adapter kit, free synthetic fluid, installation tips sheet and Tremec Hat. I bought a Lakewood Blowproof Bellhousing and the trans is straight up and down not on the slant.

I was wondering if anyone is running this and if so what shifter handle did the use and does it need to be Modified to not hit?

What is it going in? What did AMP suggest?

Remember to dial in the bellhousing. those TKOs do not like being offset at all, esp with a roller bearing.

My gut says install it and then see where you are at. there are offset shifters out there, and you can fab up stuff too in some cases. You can deal with it when everything else is done. That is what I would do. In fact that is what I did when I installed the T56 in my 77 Z28.

like i said before on TGO, you need a quick 3" offset back for that handle to have a chance of clearing the console. Not sure if any off the shelf handle will work without modification.

this is what Fotres did for mew for the stock shifter, using his 1" adapter for the bellhousing. This moved the handle back 2" and was perfect, but since you dont have the spacers, you need another inch yet.

the issue is, if you just do this, but m,ake it 3", the offset part will hit the floor. It will have to be angled a bit. Its will also make the handle raise and lower as you shifter forward and back.

a option may be the Steedo Tri-ax, im using it right now and it fit my car fine, but you will, again, need to offset it back another inch. This may be your best option.

I have that one on my TKO 600, in my 70 Nova, don't know how well it would fit the console of a 3rd gen?
