Driveshaft Loop

Do I need one for this track? My car stock runs faster then 13's and its never been an issue with Etown and well we all know how atco is with inspections.

NHRA rules require a driveshaft safety loop on any vehicle running quicker than 13.99, or on any car running slicks. NHRA rules call for a loop with at least .250" wall thickness, located no more than 6" from the front u-joint.

If anyone would catch it, Island would. They seem to have a dedication to safety that the other tracks lack.

Hmmm strange... I told the inspector I ran a 13.3 and all he asked was "Is it stock?" and I said Yea minus the exhaust and intake. Maybe Melissa will chime in on this one.

NHRA rules require a loop on any car with slicks, or on any car running faster than 11.49 (or maybe 11.99...pretty sure it's 11.49 though) with radials.

Thanks, I confirmed it with the NHRA rule book. If you are slower then 11.49 with DOT tires you do not need it. How ever if you have slicks you do need it.

So they go by DOT? So I guess you can run 11.50's with Hoosier QTPs and not have a loop?

I thought it was all bias-ply tires. Well, either way I have a loop for my car. Better safe than sorry.

Its always better safe then sorry, just wasn't sure if I could get the part and put it on before the show.

I will put one on if I put a conveter in the car.
