Wow, glad I checked the clutch fork pivot ball

I was installing the new clutch today and I had ordered a new GM clutch fork just in case. But when I checked out the clutch fork and pivot ball, it didn't feel right. So I pulled the fork off and noticed way too many metal shavings. I then removed the pivot ball and I should say it looks more like a pivot egg! It is very worn down and uneven. I also noticed there was no clutch fork boot either! I guess a dried out pivot ball and really strong pressure plate add up to a disintegrating fork and ball. Now I have to wait and order the pivot ball and boot. Dam! I wanted to get it back up and running before the warm weather is gone.

Well, my new pivot ball and clutch boot came in yesterday(thanks John, but I ordered a new one from a place in CT) so I got around to putting the new fork, pivot ball, bellhousing back in and managed to wrestle the transmission onto the floor jack and got it bolted back up by myself last night. I'm just waiting for the paint to dry on the crossmember so I can bolt it back in and then I'm done. Finished before the cold weather got here! :w00t:
