wheel backspacing/offset for 00 SS

Im looking at getting weld draglites for my 00 SS.

I don't know much about cars, so I need help. How wide of tires can I put on the rear 15x8 draglites without any problems? and what width is good for the fronts, also going to be 15x8, i want to give it a staggered look. Ive read that at stock height 28 tall can fit under the back, but i plan on lowering it at the same time about an 1.3 with the eibach pro kit.

With a 15x8 Weld wheel you need to run a 5.5" BS.

You will have to grind down the cailpers, ALOT.

Are you planning on spraying or running a crazy gear? If not, you don't need a 28" tall tire.

so i need to run 5.5 and grind down the calipers?

doesn't billet specialties make a 15" wheel that fits over those brakes w/o weakening them?

just looked em up, 380 a peice. thats not happening hah.

You are planning on running 15x8 draglites on all 4 corners? Are you buying these for looks, or for drag tires?

i was going for looks, since the car has almost 90k im not going to be tracking it.

90k is nothing :) No one is forcing you to race the car, but I wouldn't let that get in my way.

I'm not positive, but I'm quite sure you aren't going to get a 15x8 wheel to clear front LS1 brakes (even with grinding). Even if you did, you are giving up handling by going to a 15" wheel (larger sidewall, more flex), and if you want to go with the staggered look (taller tires in the back), I think that will mess up your ABS / traction control, as it will think your front tires are spinning faster than the rears.

Not trying to rain on your parade, just pointing some things out to you before you start spending money.

15" drag wheels for looks? pick up a nice set of 18's if u wanna upgrade, or a staggered 17/18 combo

Re-read my post...

You need to run longer studs/spacers on the front for a 15x3.5, anything other then that looks stupid on these cars.

band77one 02-19-2012 08:20 PM

your post says nothing specific about front or rear so what exactly would you like me to reread?
