Thats a stock driveshaft. They all used Three rivers but have 3 different numbers 98-99 had a parts number that was discontinued but its the same shaft.

The benefit is less weight on the rotating mass of the drivetrain and faster acceleration due being able to get more net power to the wheels. Your best bet is to buy JSP's driveshaft, thats cheaper...

Just replace it with a one piece shaft, any 4th Gen shaft will work (3rd gen too for that matter). I can't remember if you need to remove that mounting piece on the torque arm though, I am sure...
