Debating LS series camshaft swap...

i dont know which cam to pick... Only cam that is not an option is a MS3.

motor is an ls6, stock 243 heads, full exhaust. motor will have ARP rod bolts, rebuilt stock rockers, ported oil pump, and FAST intake setup. trans is a t56 w/3.73s.

im throwing around the idea of a MS4, RapTR, or TRex.... i will not be doing heads anytime soon. This will be getting done in the winter.

Any other real suggestions? opinions?

What kind of driveability do you want?
I've got a few different camshafts depending on how you want the car to drive and feel.

You will need to flycut with the MS4, and the TRex will be damn close with PTV clearance. All those cams are too big for stock 243's IMO. I think you would net better power and torque with a smaller cam if you dont plan on touching the heads.

Also check out the torquer v2(or 3 if you want bigger) I've got it in my camaro with basically stock 243's and it make's pretty good power with stock drive ability.

All of those cams I think are too big(MS3,MS4,Trex,etc). The car is gonna be a dog in the lower rpm range. The only thing those cams will do is make you car sound cool at idle. I'd look into getting a custom grind cam that will suit your expectations. I love it when I go to the track and see guys with MS4's that are still in the 12's yet my little custom 230 cam pulls off low 11's.

devin, car will be a daily driver, so needs some street manners, but then again, i could daily drive my ss if needed, and that's a pretty aggressive setup.

well i ruled out the ms3 only because thats what i currently have in my SS. and that car is not a dog down low.

and i think i could manage with the Texas Speed Torquer v.2 with 232/234 .595/.598 on a 112 lsa....

I'm currently working on a cam similar to the Texas speed cam. Hopefully we'll get it on the dyno soon, i'm just doing the final touches on the tune for it. It has 243 untouched heads on it

It idles very similar to this cam from my GTO:

Like I said, car has perfect street manners and down low power is still there, but you can really feel the power band kick in around 2500 rpm...power under the curve is very good with max power around ~6300 so you don't have to rev the piss outta it either.

i would have considered the v.3 sizing, except for the intake lift, thats a bit high and not sure how that would work out. i think it was like .645
