Leaking injector??????

I've been having trouble lately with my LT1 starting mostly when engine is warm. Its almost like a cylinder is hydrolocked for a second is the best way I can describe it. it will crank, then one cylinder will almost stop the starter for a second, then keep cranking and start. It's slow to start and feels sluggish for a bit, then goes away. I assumed it is a leaking injector flooding the cylinder after I shut it down. Today I took fuel rail off iwth injectors still attached and cycled the fuel pump expecting to see an injector leaking like crazy but they all were dry. Does anybody have any ideas or think I'm in the wrong direction.

better off putting a fuel pressure gauge on it and watching how quickly it bleeds off.

These direct injection fuel injectors i work with are notorious for leaking and can watch it bleed from 180bar down to 100bar in a matter of minutes with a gauge or watching the sensor.

Your's may not be that noticeable but if you are running out of places to check.

It does start though? Also have had a few snapped camshafts come through that would crank then hit almost a dead spot like it has a dead battery (doesn't start though)

Just put on fuel pressure gauge. Reading 24 psi with FPR vacuum hose on and off with no loss in pressure after turning key off................POOP................ I guess it has to be the fuel pump going and starter happening to freeze up at same time?

With only 24 lbs, I would look into doing a pump. Add in the hotwire kit while you're there never hurts neither

But with the slow starting too, hows the battery?

Battery's brand new. I think I'm going to replace the fuel filter before anything else and check it again.

Good plan, its a cheap troubleshoot. Make a log of mileage and date or just write the date on the filter for future reference.

Good point. I dont think that the filter could be clogged already. I did it about 2 years ago but I only put on about 1000 miles since then. The car sat for years before me so maybe some shmegma was in the tank or something.

yeah 24psi is pretty low. I would imagine closer to 45-60 on these cars.

Around 43-44 psi running with vac line disconnected and plugged. Roughly a 6-8 psi drop with vac line connected

I would look at the starter, battery, or cables being an issue with cranking power. Just because its new, doesn't mean its good.
