looking to get my engine rebuild
I have a 2.8L V6 from the 86 Camaro and I'm looking to see how much someone would charge me to rebuild the engine. It's a daily driver so I want to make sure it's done right. I live in Jersey City and I'm willing to drive most of North Jersey. Please PM me if you're interested. Thank You

A Jasper reman would be your best option. They come with a warranty. Shorts blocks are 6 months or 8000 miles and complete engines are 3 years or 100,000 miles. For a daily driver that would be the route I would go.

Jasper has a terrible track record. I'd consider used but there probably isn't much around. Find a reputable machine shop and talk to them about what you want. See if you can find history on them, a strong clientele, or even just a good overall feeling when speaking to them.

I've heard horror stories about Jasper too but personally haven't had any major problems with them. Only issue I can remember was a transmission we installed started making noise, they asked that I do some normal checks and sent out a replacement a day or two later. I've installed about 2 dozen engines/transmissions from them and even have a Jasper engine in my Trans Am.
If you do go the Jasper route they offer an install kit that comes with everything you'd need to complete the install (tune up parts, belts, hoses, gaskets). The warranty they offer is also better than our local machine shop.

Any reputable machine shop should offer a warranty, or any mechanic if you are having the whole refresh and R&R done professionally.
I do believe that there are also still GM replacement crates available for the 2.8 as well. All GM crate engines come with I believe it is a 3 year/36k mile warranty.

Not a fan of Jasper. I'd call RMP and see if they will sell an engine to ya. Those things have great reps and offer the same warranty as Jasper.
