Future Repainting..?
So, out of no reason whatsoever, I wondered how my car would look with a blue body. After a quick edit in Photoshop, I got what you see here... So, the big question: Should I keep the car the manufacturer's red? or save up for the blue?

Blue looks nice. I'm sure it's also going to be very expensive to do well.

As in for the price of the paint job you could easily buy another 2000 SS and mod it up.

as others said maybe trade it for a blue one, or sell it and buy a blue one.
or even a Navy Blue Metallic one with some clear markers

The blue looks nice but like WB said having a color change done properly is very involved. I'd remove all of the panels so the jambs and insides could be painted and the engine bay is body color on the 4th gens as well correct?

It sounds more like you're just craving a change in appearance, in my opinion. Maybe photoshop some stripes, tints, or different wheels, and see if that doesn't distract you from the body color. That's a really nice red you've got there. I'm a big fan of blue, but I feel you would have to envision a deeper, metallic blue for it to look good.

Yeah, I was just bored and was asking some friends, and they photoshopped this pic for me in a quick minute. Tints? They're gonna be put on sometime between now and June (I just need to find a well paying year round part-time job). For wheels I was thinking about keeping my stock ones, only having them a glossy black to match my sail panel.
When I'm bored I usually think about what to do to my car... Like, performance-wise, I'm looking for a catback to go along with my new performance lid / filter birthday gift my mom's looking to get me.

That paint job is probably $8k-10k minimum for a nice job, so some stripes or new wheels is significantly cheaper.

never liked 'arrest me red' 'fire engine red' or any other close variant of loud reds...if cash is no problem, go blue and be unique..
reds seem to be a dime a dozen on sports cars...i always get compliments on my iroc being metallic blue..

I love the metallic blue....when I was looking for my thirdgen blue was my first choice in color but couldn't find one in good enough condition at the time. I do love my white now though....both are rarer colors.

That is a really great shade of blue, but like others have said, to do it right is gonna cost the same or more than the car is worth.
