I had a CF driveshaft for about a year, just never got around to getting a new rear or a Yoke adapter to install it. Bought for $400, sold for $400.
That thing was L-I-G-H-T. Tru2Chevy, did you get the vid? |
I did get the video, I'll have it hosted when I get home from work.
Pics are up: http://www.davemilcarek.com/053105/ # 4, 35, 36, 142 - no good launch shots this time, but the rear angle looks pretty cool. Looks like the last one he shot just a fraction too early (or you could say Craig left too late). See the lights changing? - Justin |
I'd say he hit it too early because on all of Craig's launches that tire might have been an inch off the ground...and his r/ts were great.
thanks for posting that website Justin...I'm looking back at the previous dates and I found a few of the last time i raced...theres a good one of craig vs. me staging. http://www.davemilcarek.com/032205/p...2-R1%20001.htm |
Bill, when we're talking about a few hundreth of a second, sometimes all it takes is a $700 part :) . I agree completely, it's definatly not cost effective when looking for bang for the buck. Then again how much has he spent all in all to get to where he is now when an LS1 stock would have... point being cost is all relative to the goal, not the small gains. Just like gears might cost $600 to get and have installed which will gain you 2 tenths with a stock car but as you get faster it might be worth 4-8 tenths. Same goes for the carbon fiber driveshaft and aluminum flywheel. Those too parts are the best of the best. The only trade off being the cost. When you want to go fast, sometimes you have to pay for it. I think it would be worth the investment to get an aluminum flywheel. The CF driveshaft is down the road but not that far down if he's chasing a n/a v6 record.
|
eh...aluminum flywheel ok...do you think hes gonna keep that 5 speed too much longer? I would assume at some point he'll go to either an auto or 6 speed whether thats a t56 or a properly geared richmond to take advantage of the powerband better which he'd need a new ds for because i belive the 5 speed is a few inches shorter...just a thought...and like I said going from 12lbs to 8-9 or whatever a CF DS weighs isnt that much even with it being rotating mass...i didnt gain anything on the dyno going from my steely to the aluminum one fwiw

I probably have the vid's saved on my puter...... although.... it is packed away in storage.
Once it is out, I will check and send you any of them. What has TTP done w/ the car? |
I don't know much. All I know is that it will no longer be a V6 car.
