Ouch I just quoted my dad for a new remannded steering box. Came in at like $90 after a core. Take him for your pump being bad from running with no fluid. I'd also have all balljoints, TRE's, and suspension links replaced. It would suck to be driving down the road after you think everything is alright and you start drifting because one of your control arms is banged up and you didnt realise it.

bad64chevelle 04-29-2008 07:58 AM

Yeah I hear you 100% The steering box for the Ram is going to be one of the most expensive pieces, I believe when my buddies went it was something like 400 bucks and he installed it on his own.

bubba428 04-29-2008 09:01 AM

did you check for pieces of tard under your truck???

BonzoHansen 04-29-2008 09:12 AM

If the box is beat make sure no used box goes in. Only new.

Notice you only hear about the idiots. The ones with common sense are off the radar doing their own thing...

Its shot I guarantee it. Only a new one will go in, a used one will only have problems.

i have a used one in my camaro, no problems yet :knocksonwood:

bad64chevelle 04-29-2008 12:57 PM

yeah well these things have a tendency to leak when they start to get old, and with the lift and extra stress on them, I dont want to put a used one on and have it go bad in 2 months...then I will be really pissed.

bad64chevelle 04-29-2008 05:04 PM

Okay so I got it down to the dealer and they just gave it a quick look (on the ground still) the sway bar is jammed up into the steering box (which itself is now broken because of this), the center link is bent, the other arm to the drivers side spindle is bent and causing some tow in, and a few other odds and ends so far. It will be going up on the lift tomorrow morning.

bad64chevelle 04-30-2008 11:10 AM

Alot more was bad with it...its not looking too good. :-( the kid bent the hubs, so this is gonna get ugly.

sweetbmxrider 04-30-2008 03:45 PM

damn how fast was he rippin that wheelie? i dono if you posted it already, don't feel like clicking the back button since i already started typing, but what kind of bike?

BigAls87Z28 04-30-2008 03:54 PM

Good lord!! How big is this bike?

baddest434 04-30-2008 04:31 PM

man that blows!! going to turn out being 1 expensive wheelie:evil:

bad64chevelle 04-30-2008 05:30 PM

it was a 600 CC Suzuki GSXR he was probably doing about 60 when he hit the ground slid 58 feet into my truck. I would say about 45-50 at the impact.

sweetbmxrider 04-30-2008 05:34 PM

oh wow. i didn't think he was going so fast. that will deff leave a mark, have you heard from him with regards to your repairs?

Anti_Rice_Guy 04-30-2008 07:13 PM

Idk bean but he said ~4 (parts and labor) in damage, or roughly the same amount as the truck is worth.

sweetbmxrider 04-30-2008 09:09 PM

thats not good

bad64chevelle 04-30-2008 10:00 PM

yeah i got an estimate done today just didnt get a chance to go get them. I have to send them to the adjuster and see what happens from there. I know the price is up there and may have gone up afterwards, I dont know yet.

maroman88 05-01-2008 12:14 AM

holy crap.... sounds like he did some damage for sure
