You're trying to compare a Mustang to a Corvette  That's an insult to the Corvette and not fair to the Mustang on any trim level really.

NastyEllEssWon 04-01-2011 06:32 PM

right now sj sleeper you sound like a civic fanboy....they play that game. ''well if i had a turbo blah blah blah then yeah id be able to blah blah blah''. the point is that ford chose to develop their ohc mod motors and gm went in the way of a pushrod ohv motor. you cant just say well if this but that...because if Ifs and Buts were candy and nuts then we'd all have a merry christmas.

as it stands right now camaro vs mustang the mustang is not only superior in straight line performance, but its truer to its roots, lighter and looks a hell of a lot better. as for this being a ''gm'' site, meh...id say more of an enthusiast site for a certain bodystyle, more so than the whole brand. screw gm, i love fbodies. the new camaro is not an fbody.

just face it...the King of the Road, is once again, King of the Road...and I for one couldnt be happier.

if the lsx had dohc, it wouldnt be an lsx.

mustang, Mostly used **** that aint no good

JL8Jeff 04-02-2011 09:51 AM

Ford has always spent more money on building some limited production exotic version of the Mustang and this is no different. It would be interesting to see how "stock" they truly are. But I cetainly wouldn't call the Mustang a good looking car, it's uglier now than it was a couple of years ago! With the weight difference between the cars, you can't come close to calling it apples to apples. When the Mustang adds the true side impact protection and it gains 400 lbs, then you will have an honest comparison. But anything over $35K is really outpricing the ponycar concept and becoming pretty exotic at this point.

Anything over 35k is an exotic? ****, there are a lot of exotics out there!

Camaro's weight is one thing, and it could be better
Mustang really became quite a great car, and the Boss is exactly the car that a lot of Camaro fans wanted from GM.

For a pony car, over $35K is definitely exotic. The pony car was built to be an affordable sporty sedan. $40-60K does not come close to meeting that criteria.

Gm better wake up or this little sales race their having with Ford between the mustang/camaro is going to be over rather quickly. Hopefully when the re-do the platform the camaro is on in a couple of years it will be a smaller, lighter car.

Better check your sales numbers there pumpkin. Camaro is still #1, even after 6 months of 2011's. I know, cant make sense, but it is. Convertible sales should start to pick up this month too.

I haven't been following terribly close, but has there been a month that the Mustang outsold the 5th gen since the 5th gen went on sale?

What I meant by the post was that while the Camaro is doing well right now, I can see sales favoring the mustang in the future if the Camaro doesn't try to match fords offerings.

How many different ways can you get a mustang right now compared to the camaro?

Slow-V6 04-04-2011 10:00 PM

Chevy will match the mustang.. All will be well.. The Camaro is still outselling the mustang and the new mustang design is still not that popular with the diehard Ford people out there. All I see is new camaros everywere. even saw 8 Convertible camaros on my way down to Baltimore and back on Sunday.. They are everywere. I wont own niether the New Mustang or New camaro so to me it doesnt really matter which is faster or what not..

JL8Jeff 04-04-2011 10:11 PM

How are the sales actually measured, by GM selling cars to the dealers or dealers actually selling cars to the public? I see a ton of Camaros sitting on the lot so it makes me think they are counting sales as what the dealers are getting from GM. Does Ford do that as well? Total cars produced does not mean total cars sold no matter who the manufacturer is.

There are a lot of variations and submodels for the Mustang. From what I can remember..
You have the V6, V6 performance package, V6 convertable, V6 vert with performance package, GT, GT vert, GT perforomance, GT performance vert, Boss 302, Boss 302 LS, GT500, GT500 vert, then there are a host of other little trim versions like national mustang club of america package, california package, etc etc.

Camaro has 4 V6 trims, 2 SS trims, and RS package can be orderd with 2 of the V6 packages and both SS trims, plus the ZL1 coming next year which will be coupe only. You can get a vert on all LT and SS versions, not LS trim.

Its sales to customers, not dealers.
