Garage Refresh
The garage has gotten pretty bad lately. I seem to have time to start many projects, finish some but never have time for the all important clean-up. Sound familiar to anyone? My Dad bought me an epoxy floor kit and I finally decided to get it done. Between emptying the garage, cleaning, powerwashing the floor, painting the walls and floor, this project took around 20 hrs and while it's not done, I think its coming along very nicely. The paint is getting more even as it cures and the base of the walls will be touched up. There is a pot time for the epoxy and using a brush on the brick surrounding the inside of the garage would have taken too long. Easier to touch up the wall than the floor.
The Big Changes: - Removed large shelf in the front right of the garage. Cut, built and re-purposed it as an 8' workbench. Aside from the floor, this is my new favorite aspect of the garage. - Powerwashed, etched and epoxy coated the floor - Patched, sanded and painted the walls - Removed and remounted existing tire rack. Mounted new one next to it. - Setup wash station to the left of the garage entrance, right side is more setup with oils/fluids, etc. - Compressor moved to front right corner. I will get a kit to plumb air to different spots around the garage. - New/used tool box setup, one by the door, other by the front. - I still need to finish organizing the rest of the stuff and get the stereo wired in the front. Before/hoarder pics (My Dad arrived early on Friday to get started.....he was not pleased) http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps0698b8c0.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...psac9d6f73.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps9159fbcc.jpg During - We decided now was the time to patch and paint the walls before doing the floor. http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...pse91e0c6a.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...psa079f527.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps077f5515.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps5aafdc84.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps5285b9e4.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...psae2d788f.jpg Getting there - Still more organizing to do. http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...psc334e554.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...psfdeb5721.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps95ca5fe9.jpg http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps2ab96e59.jpg Big thanks to Adam for waking me up on Sunday AM and helping out. :) |
Egads! So that rear door DOES open!
Definitely am digging the renovations, Brian. Terrible memories of that crawlspace/underground dungeon still linger though; Please block that off pronto. |
Little more organization and some shelving, you'll be in good shape 8-)

Looks awesome, man!
What brand epoxy did you use? R-O, U-Coat it, Insul-X? |
Something I have to do double time....probably next year when I get a bigger shed to move things out of the garage. You've made me now want to do it though b/c I have to do the flr and walls as well....takes time. Like the tv....came out great.

I should have painted my floor before I put anything in the garage after I bought the house
Looks good, That was definitely worth missing a club meet to do |
I wish my garage was as tidy as yours was to begin with. So far I lost two cars in mine... They are somewhere in there I think.

Looks good man. Did you use rust oleum epoxy paint from home cheapo? I used that on my basement floor. It came out real nice.

the one big door http://i.imgur.com/amLVCr4.jpg?1 In there is a 32 or 36 GMC Panel Truck with a flathead 6, 66 corvair with like 3000 miles, and a 39 ford coupe deluxe with a olds 455 motor. :| meanwhile my t/a and motorcycle are outside dying sorry for the off topic blackbird, but we are all jelly of your garage :P |
Here's how you solve that, throw the **** away. Then throw away the **** you think you might use. Then consolidate the **** you want to keep.

Lookin good, Brian! Where did you get the tire racks? What did they run you? I've got a 30'x36' that needs the same treatment. When can you come over and do it? LOL.

Came out looking nice.
What are the dimensions of your garage and how many layers did you put down? I am going to be doing the floor of mine in a few weeks hopefully and am trying to figure out how much I'll need. For the 100 something dollars it costs for each rustoleum kit, if I'll need 3 I may pick up the Epoxy-Coat special that does 500 sqft for $250 since I hear the water based stuff isnt as strong. How do you like those overhead racks? I am about to buy a couple to toss over a work bench. |
looks very nice. how much were the epoxy floor kits if you don't mind me asking...looking to do something similar myself.
