Looking for something cheap in replacement to a dead 3.4L

A friend of mine is looking for a cheap replacement for his 3.4L 93 firebird due to a possible bad piston ring. I dunno what tranny came with the 3.4L's that year, but he's looking for something he can pretty much bolt up to it. Would be nice if it came strapped with a 700r4, but I am clueless on what came in the combo. Lemme know.

			in '93 it would have a 4L60 (non-e). Same tranny that came in 91-92 F-bodies. Same as a 700R4 from earlier F-Bodies.
Is he looking for a replacement motor? Or a car to replace the 'bird?

Ok, that's what I figured, just wanted to clarify.
I'll keep my eye out for anything that might pop up.

I think onl a 3.4 can bolt up to the bellhousing, I know a 3.8 has a different bolt pattern than LT1/LS1 so can only bolt up to a 3.8 4l60e...

yeah, a 2.8 3.1 or 3.4 will drop right in and bolt up to the 4l60
now i remember, the 93 f bodys had kickdown cables to the trannys, even the lt1s, and then 94+ went to the more electronic ones.

since the tranny is fine and if you find a 3.4 you would just have to swap the 93 TB onto it, other than that any 93-95 3.4 would work(rwd versions of course)

I would have him put a call in to Red & Black in Jamesburg. That have several 3.4 f bodies there. They gotta have at least 1 good motor.

Well, what was thought to be a piston ring really wasnt. See, everytime it ran like ****, he'd take the #2 plug out, and it would be doused in sludge, so he would clean it off, put it back in, and it would run fine for 5 minutes. Turns out it was a stock coil pack that went.
