The SLP unit is steel and designed to be lighter then the stock LT1 FW but not at light as an Alum unit so the idea is you free up the engine to rev a bit quicker without the "problems" of running a lighter alum unit.
Yes you should be able to resurfaced if your talking about just cleaning it up, you can't go too much or you run the chance of the PP won't do it's job. I don't know for sure, I have no experience with resurfaced FW and LT1s. (They say because of the design of the the PP on an LT1 its said to have limited travel which causes the problems when then FW is cut.).
Sorry, that's all I can offer. I don't have any first hand experience with resurfaced FW and LT1s.
I used the Mcleod clutch with the SLP FW on my old motor no problem so the Spec or Ram should be fine.
