i give up too
lumina crapped out on me today, 72 miles after rolling over 200,000...got spark, got air, not sure on the fuel part.
then, i throw the valve cover and upper intake back on the mustang and go to try to figure out the lumina's problem, and when i get back into the stang to go home, the f***** thing wont start, turned over realllllll slow. jumped it and got it home after a few minutes of beating the piss out of it
im ready to stop buying old cars and get one new one

You should really own a couple of F-body's. I had 2 of them out today and they run fine.

change the fuel filter and pump on the lumina. 16 years and 200k is a long time for an electric pump to beable to maintain full pressure. it is a cheap fix.
the mustang jsut had a dead/low battery? check the alt to see if it is dead/dying and draining the battery and check the battery for capacity.

Yeah re-seat the alt connections. That was my problem on my TA.

well when i tried cranking the mustang over, i was getting pissed and i held the key an extra couple seconds...and the little ground wire that comes off the battery for the body ground melted all the stuff off the outside of it. not sure what that means exactly
and when i turn the key on the lumina, i hear the pump prime

just because the pump primes doesnt mean its building enough pressure.

Lumina - I assume it is fuel injected, so there should be a pressure release on the fuel line press that in and see if you got any pressure. If you don't, then first check all of your lines, make sure nothing retarted happened to 'em. If that is all kosher, obviously replace the fuel filter. If that doesn't work, replace the pump.
Mustang - that is weird -- melted ground? hmmm -- well Make sure all your connections are good on the starter. Check your grounds make sure everything is nice and tight. Check the battery connections and make sure they are screwed in all the way and tight. If you doubt your starter/alt/batt. doesn't work you can take it into any advance auto and have it tested for free.
I've been where you are at a million and one times, and I know it's no fun. In all honesty just take a break from it then go back to it. Just go over the basics then move deeper into the issue. And just do one thing at a time. Your bound to find the issue.

It most likely means the rest of your grounds suck, if they even exist..

yeah but how many valves are bent is the question. thats an interfearence motor. and with the Stang that wire melting means the starter is trying to ground through that little wire check your ground! ford starters suck nuts too
