my teacher bought an '86 Vette for REAL cheap in 1987....a "gentleman", as he put it, took two .22's to the head in the car. The man's daughter was selling it just to get rid of it. My teacher bought it, fixed it up, and found out that one of the bullets had actually exited the man's head and lodged itself in the firewall. he took it out, took it to his friend (a shooting range owner) who then melted the spent round down and made it into a new bullet. the bullet now hangs from the rear view mirror of the Vette, in honor of the man who died.

How did it get lodged in the firewall?
Normally when people shoot themselves its through the mouth and out the back of the head. Also, generally It'll only take one bullet to the head. Something doesnt line up with the story.

He didn't say the guy killed himself, just that 2 shots got him in the head

Hmmm...two shots. Either way why the hell would you put that on there when you are trying to sell it. Maybe the reason my Z is so F*ed up is cause its haunted...hmm i never thought of that. Like the check engine light that stays on and throws NO code...Maybe it wants me to look under the hood and while i do that, it turns into a "Christine" kind of vehicle. Sure hope some of you have seen that movie.

forensics are a neat subject.

a bullet can wind up in the damndest places. I think the guy with the vette was shot, not shot himself. Friend of mine was at a resturant in vegas, there was a shooting and two bullets ricochet(sp) into his trunk. We figured they bounced off the ground and went in cause the holes were flat. A .22 is a small caliber, so thus needing 2 to the head, and even then, the highest grain .22 would have trouble breaking the skull. Even the old police issue 9mm hollow points are considered a small bullet. Which is why most departments in NJ are switching or have switched to a .40 (10mm) HP.

IMO, a 45acp, hollowpoint, 185gr will take care of any and all penetration issues.

Oh, and I wouldnt go near the Z. Bad kahrma with that. And since it was a suicide, you can figure why some foam is missing from the headrest.

sorry for the confusion everyone...the "gentleman" i referred to was murdered. He didn't kill himself. whoever shot him was behind the car, putting two bullets through the rear glass. One of the bullets exited the man's head and buried itself in the firewall.
