****in douche bags...anyone know a place central area that will pass me?

Yeah, that tranny is toast .
At least you passed sniff inspection without a working EGR :P . What were the exact numbers?
As for the noise, I thought they might fail me for that next time around so I'm going to lean the engine out hardcore to keep the sound down. Bring in a printed sheet of the cat-back being 50-state legal, the cat, and headers. That'll give you an edge when they try and tell you it's too loud. Then ask for the local law that sets the decible level or do your own digging and have them prove that it's too loud. Don't let them just tell you it's too loud. Keep me updated on the progress.

you can demand a legal sound check. since most facilities are not equiped to conduct one they actually have to pass you. remeber, they have to prove teh car is illegal, you don't have to prove it is legal. they can also only retest based on teh failure if you go back with in 30 or 45 days or whatever teh failure certificate is good for.

Eatontown if you want to drive out this far. They never tested for such things such as noise? Even when I had the Hookers on. Did sound wicked good when I gassed it out of the garage though... 8)

its a 2 lane garage...made out of cinderblocks...they had a car about 6 inches away from my tips (i was 2nd to last there...and they got the other car in just behind me so they could close the doors...the moron behind the wheel decides he wants to bring it up to about 4000 rpms in the building where a fart would echo...with a car that close to my exhaust and ****..did he expect it to be quiet? Â*i almost shot the guy.he did it with his ears too...and why didnt they tell me it was too loud the first time? theyre all toolsheds.

i can go to one in bridgeton and have them do it...theyre very lax in there and supposedly will pass you even if you fail the emissions part.

turns out it wasnt my dipstick for my transmission...when my teacher took the pan down to install the wrong kickdown cable, he didnt put a new gasket on the pan...the front corner of it was shot...so we replaced that on friday. it still drips a tad, because that wrong kickdown didnt come with a new seal and it drips slightly.
Jon...my emission numbers were as follows:

 Gas Standard Reading Result
 NOx 1110 327 PASS
 HC 148 16 PASS
 CO% 0.83 0.06 PASS
 CO2% 13.2
 O2% 1.8

you werent kidding about hot being better...i didnt turn it off the entire time i was there and it was sitting at about 220...when id go forward in line itd drop slightly...

now if only i can figure out the heat/EGR code issue.

Don't feel too bad. They failed my 86 for noise pollution. He told me to "remove the glasspacks and amplfiers from my exhaust". I laughed. Of course its gonna be loud. Your in an inclosed area where u can hear the echo of a penny drop 50 feet away. I had a Flowtech exhaust and hi-flow cat, and they were revving it well above 4000.

Nothing. LOL. It's a lawn ornament now, I'm in the process of selling it to my brother. The inspection is 2 months overdue.
 But...

When I went to Menekie (sp?) to get my rear brakes fixed, they saw the inspection papers and said "They flunked you for your exhaust?" cuz he knows I went there to have it installed. I said yea and hes like "You just caught someone having a really bad day, you shouldve gone to Newton instead of Randolph".

They are prolly gonna want a receipt for the work done. The guy at Menekie told me to show the receipt to DMV for my brakes (cuz they flunked those as well). Good luck tho!

i needed a bunch of work done on my daily a while back in order to get it to pass inspection. i went with receipts in hand and the guy says, "i don't want that ****." i guess it's arbitrary (having receipts) and like everything else with inspection stations it depends on where you go and who's line you're in.
wouldn't it be nice to have the same expectations at every station?
