Bad News For #99

i just got off the phone with randy and life is not happy.
2 weeks ago he was crowned new egypt's rookie champ, he took a week off and we were back at teh track last night. randy did ok in his first attempt at time trials, placing 33rd in the nearly 70 car field. not a bad start to the evening.
things went all worng in his consi though. after getting caught out in a bobble by another driver that randy compounded by making a mistake he set hsi sites on catching back up to the field.
as he came down the back stretch on the last lap 2 cars got together in front of him and one spun directly into randy's path. at a speed of 105-110mph randy drilled the other car with his left front.
the result is a trashed chassis. everything in front of the green house of the roll cage is bent bad.
he may have a line on a chassis to use for the rest of the season. but it is gonna cost money and time to get it together enough to run. looks like there are gonna be a few late nights up at teh shop the next few weeks.
if anyone has any ideas of people or companies that would be willing ot pitch in a sponsorship or just throw him a few bucks it would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the wonderful world of low-budget racing. what a bummer (about the chassis).

as far as sponsors, i would look at the top five cars - see who is sponsoring them? they might be able to throw him a coupla bucks and since they are already sponsoring a car you are sure that they are into it. since he only needs a coupla bucks they might feel sympathetic for his position.

Varies alot - anywhere from free to several thousand, depending on condition. Right now he may be able to get an older chassis in decent shape from a friend, but starting over from a bare chassis will take time and money.

randy is looking at a chassis tonight(owned by teh brother of ej's car owner). randy's wrecked car is a 97 Pauch-Olsen, the chassis in question is a "pinch nose" Olsen, basically a later model with a few updates. if teh frame is in good shape randy can have it for free actually. that is teh good news.
the front suspension is gonna cost some cash to fix. the list of broken/bent stuff is as long as my arm. randy will have to update a few things in teh rear suspension to bolt everything in, but he already has about half teh parts.
gonna need to make hoops and rub rails, the right door is trashed, a bunch of spherical rod ends/radius rods/bolts/small brackets got destroyed as well.
he actually hit hard enough to rip the air cleaner off of the carb.
from 110-0 in 20ft and teh car is teh only one that suffered from it. that is prolly the best part, a hit like that could have easily been much more serious than just parts.
we will likely get hacking at everything tomorrow night. a return this weekend is very unlikely/impossible.
