pulleys for a 3800
hey does any company make pulleys for a 2001 firebird (v6)? ive searched a few sites and couldnt find anything

I've seen a few places that have offered them, but they don't seem to do much for the 3800. Lots of ppl have tried them, and not seen any improvement.

oh ok thanks bro, me and my bro were talkin about puttin them on my car. he said they would give me like 10 horses, he had a camaro, but it was a gen 3 IROC, so it was a lil different then my car lol. thanks for the info... onto something else...

The 3800 series 2 v6 engines have a VERY effecient pulley set up stock.
In the past... some v6 companies made them and gained 0.5 to 1 HP.
Use the $$$$ elsewhere.

save up cash for gears. they are all around helpful and don't hurt mileage the way most people think they will. in some cases mileage will actually go up.

yea thats what my brother suggested, like 3.73 or 4.10 but then besides getting just the gears i would need to get the installation kit and find sum1 who knows how to do it, which shouldnt be that hard to find with you guys around

If yes.... high stall converter.
I am selling my Pro Yank 3200 stall. I went 0.7 quicker N/A in my V6

go for teh 4.10's. you won't regret it.
there are good cat back options foir teh 3800, just order a cat back for a single cat LT1 car and you will have teh 3inch tubing the engine wants.
since your car is an "01 you already have the tubular manifolds. they are a pretty good start, definately good enough to make the available off teh shelf headers not very useful.
a good y-pipe is always a good call though. flowmaster makes really nice y-merges. i would sugest having an exhuast shop bend you up a y-pipe using a 2- 2 1/4inch into single 3inch y-pipe using a flow collector.
i always suggest a cat delete. it frees up a bunch of flow and power. a bullet style muffler can be fitted in teh place of teh factory cat to keep teh volume below teh radar of the cops/ballbusters.
a whisper lid + whatever brand of "ram air" helps a bunch too.
big thing is to get started with programming asap. the sooner you start tuning teh better prepared you will be to take advantage of each mod you add.

For $500....... tuning or converter..... I'd get converter.
My old one is for sale, $450 8)

I'd say go for both a 3500+ stall converter & tuning...if you look hard enough you will be able to find both for less then $500 8)

or tci pn 243111...its a 3600 stall through summit will run $515 shipped brand new should work fine but call kevin at tci to make sure...customer service there is top notch.

Dunno if I would want a 3600 stall for a daily driver.
Mine got me 33 mpg and was completely streetable.
My 4200 is by far not for a daily driver
My proyank 3200 was specifically made for the v6 4th gen f body... and has prooved itself

eh...kinda depends on the str...i know my tci 3500 had an str of 2.5 & even with the 2.73's was pretty tight and very streetable...i would assume they use about the same str on this 3600 stall. Whats the str on the new converter you got james? Either way I cant see you going wrong...just a matter of if you want to go with a used one or not...yanks new run $900-1100 from what ive seen.
