So downhill curve + traffic light + ****** north haledon plow job + ice + my year old crappy all-season tires = kissed a curb going out to eat

Was only at about 5 mph give or take a couple, so didnt feel too bad. I looked at the rim and its fine, just a little bit of curb rash but nothing bad.

Heading back... i noticed it gettign a little more squirrley than it should. parked in the firstlot i came to, put the steering wheel straight ahead, got out to look... drivers side was fine and straight, passenger side (what hit) was pointing as if I had the wheel about a half to 3/4 turn to the right

So I am not TOO pissed since I needed an alignment after my accident and waited on it since it wasnt too too bad... but now I need it ASAP. (See my thread in the north section, asking for good places for alignments for relatively cheap)

Other thing is I have now decided to avert all funds to getting some good snow tires, what kinds should I look at? What is the best (I assume smallest) size that I can fit on my salad shooters?

Dunlops will give your more seasons. I never liked the way blizzaks wore. I've used both and I would buy Dumlops w/o thinking twice. Michelins are very good, but big $$. Hurry, snow tire season buying is almost over.

My suggestion is get some cheap take offs and leave the tires mounted year round. A full set is also recommended. Proper balance.

What kind of car, what size tire is on it now?

Al they're 16 by 8 wheels, stock size is 225/60/15 or maybe 225/65 not sure... so I guess that's the size I'm looking for. How much would that alignment be too? I hope I can get it done up North somewhere, I had a u-joint I have to fix ASAP so that plus the alignment means I don't really want to be driving down central if i can help it

Bonzo it's a 97 v6... 145/50/HR16 Falken ze-512 tires on there now

we had to move the cars from lot 6 to lot 5 anyway... plus campus cafe is too expensive

Stock in a V6 was probably 215/60/16, IIRC, maybe 235/55/16. You speedo is probably a little fast with the shorter 245/50. Check the sticker on the door, that will tell you OE fitment.

I might think 215/60/16, 235/55/16 or 225/55/16 snows are out there for you to get. 225/60 would be too tall. A little narrower is better in snow, thus I am not suggesting the 245/50. The snows will not handle dry road like your current ones. But they will be much better in rain/snow. Call around for the 235/55. Or check tire rack & discount tire.

Remember what I said about rims. Mount&Dismount & balancing twice a year adds up.

I know he raved about them, and they will probably be cheaper than most other tires out there. Blizzaks are good too, so if you can get a deal on them, go for it.

I lied. 235/55/16 might be hard to get. Tire rack doesn't list them. Try 225/55/16. Dunlops - $88 each

The coopers above would work too. Sizes limited. Of those, I'd go with the OE 215-60-16.

I'd run studded tires and just in the snow.... kinda doubtful that a cop would pull ya over in the snow for studded tires

Don't remember exactly, however in NJ you can have studded tires on your car form mid-November to mid-March I think.

Front drivers side wheel... relatively fine, same way its been for like a year

Passenger side wheel... a little curb rash, saw this at first thought "eh that isnt bad"

Then checked the alignment, said oh ****

When im driving straight I have the wheel almost 1/8th of a turn to the left and have to constantly correct it

Right now there is a 40 dollar instant rebate with the purchase of 4 mich tires. Then there is also 10% off on all Mich and BFG tires from 7 to 10 tomorrow morning.
Alignment is 64.99...but if you come down here, Im sure that we could first evaluate the alignment and see if it is needed.

james i cant help it my car has some unnatural crazy attraction to them once or twice every winter

al... really from driving around just before I don't trust it too much over like 45-50 mph and dont really want to go all the way down there with it as it is

Studded snow tires are bad idea for NJ driving. Our roads are almost never snow/ice covered. It is more of an icy/slushy/wet mix with patches of ice.

howabout instead of getting snow tires.....get a phone book, or a booster seat so you can see over the hood, and notice the curb.
