The camaro, my girlfriend & I made it in & out of New York City ALIVE! With no swapped paint! Those taxi drivers are suicidal!
What an intense drive, defenitly keeps you on your feet

Dude driving in the city kicks ass. It's fun as hell. Granted my dad grew up in the bronx, learned to drive there, and the NY driving probably rubbed off on me a little... but it's fun out-assholing the NYC drivers

Alex, I didn't know you were going into the city with Ali, very cool. I've never driven into/in the city...just walked around and from what I've seen I don't want to drive in the city, too much traffic and people.

i drove into and around new york city once. since then i have found the train and the subway system to be much less of a hassle and about the same price once you figure tolls and parking.

My first trip into NYC was in a Frightliner straight truck (24' box). I instantly realized its impossible to get lost since the numbering of them is in order. But, trying to manuver around there is a pain. I went there everyday for about a week folling that and it started to get used to it. The cabs will cut you off ... hell .. they would cut off a ambulance. Just gotta do aggressive driving that you wouldn't normally do here.
Biggest pain is finding the damn lincoln tunnel. What pisses me off the most is there will be signs for it, and when you get close, the signs stop so then your on your own. I've gone down broadway through times square, comming up the west side highway, cutting over on 46th, 49th .. .never seem to get it the first time.
Personally I think driving on the LIE during rush hour or 287 (staten island into long island) are worse. Roads are in horrible condition, even though they are eternally forever under construction. Once I was comming back from Maine and hit the GW bridge around 4:30-5:00. It took me 2 hours to go from exit 3 to the bridge. Its about a mile and half distance.
It may be a great city to some, not to me. I hate driving it, or around it!

yeah NYC is fun if i ever got really bored, id go i with the SS and play, those cross streets echo exhuast nicely. And considering at 2am, i can get to Times square in 15 min from my house, i wouldnt think twice about going. I even too my old bike, '99 cbr600f4, into the city once. Went in through the lincoln tunnel, now thats an experience on a bike. Then i went cross down and up 3rd ave doing wheelies. lol. I ended up in the 120's in Harlem before i made my way back over to the GWB and home.

haha I rolled down my windows going through the Lincon tunnel and went through it in a low gear; that was fun. I think I was the loudest car in time square too! I was pulling off to the right and I saw an oppening to get away from the sea of Taxi's and I got on it, it was very cool hearing my car echo off the buildings and all the people looking over with a smile

I dated a girl for 3 months who lived on the Lower East Side. Never any place to park and tons of people. NYC = Overrated.

I avoid driving in the city as much as posisble. I usually take the bus in. Only drove in once, don't plan on doing it again any time soon.
