motor trend, virtual Camaro vs Mustang 09
yup they did a virtual test between the new camaro and an 09 mustang and yes the camaro kicked ass in base, z28, and ZL1 form  i dont have time to read it gotta run to work but yall should check it out

I havent read the article, but I would think that a "ZL1" would be a max effort "3/4 race" camaro

yes it issss, still havent read it yet just read over sum of the numbers, they put up the ZL1 against the GT 500 and it did a 10th second better in the quarter at 12.2 i think, its 505hp LS7

If it were a no options Z28 the camaro would probably win, but the SS is heavier so it would be pretty close.

New SS? SS is the mid range cruiser, Z28 is the race car.
As for the Vette being the fastest, the Camaro will never be faster just based on weight. They could both cary the same engine, and the Vette will win every time. Problem arises is how much are you willing to pay for a 505hp Camaro? Its great for braging rights, but if they sell 10 a year, what is the point?
With Ford, there is a very large gap in performance cars since there is 2, one priced from 20 to 30, and then another one at 150k.
At Chevy, there are several performance cars that fit in that price range.
You will have...
Cobalt SS
Monte SS
Camaro SS
Camaro Z28
Corvette
Corvette Z06
And then there is still room to grow. Mustang is all those cars. Having a 475hp Mustang isnt going to even come near the GT.

um...a modded ANYTHING can beat a stock anything car. it depends on how much money you sink into it. **** i've seen hondas runs 10's that will surely beat a stock vette, does it make a honda better?

i believe, in 89 when GM made the turbo ta, it beat the vette and that was a rare occasion other than the late 80's GNs. other than that GM basically made sure the vette was the fastest out of the showroom.
When i bought my SS in 2001, it was a toss up between the new '01 SS or a used '98/99 vette. i figured the vette would be faster with the same future mods and its a vette, lol, but the ss would come brand new, full warranty and a true SS, not a clone, and had a backseat, so i chose the SS.
