my car is officially screwed up

well today while i was sleeping my dad decided to have a new guide rail put in my garage which cut into my garage about 6 inches..... now as background every day like 3 or 4 times a day i back out of my garage with my door open a bit hop out dust off my car (garage is dusty as hell) while its warming up then hop back in and be on my way... well when i got in today i didnt know bout the new guide nor did i pay attention ive backed out exactly this way 10,000 times.... well all i hear is crack i smacked the edge of my drivers door on the guide which cracked basically both inside edges bent the hinges and pushed my front fender out maybe 1/8 inch so now i need to replace the door the hinges and have the fender realigned and painted yes i know i am an idiot for not really paying attention backing out but once u do it so many times it becomes habit

but anyway my dad feels bad for not telling me so hes gonna loan me whatever i need to get it fixed and i feel like **** cuz i ****ed up my car and prolly wont be able to drive it for a month or so but questions are

1. about how much should it cost to replace the door, hinges, realign the front fender and paint the door (fender is undamaged just looks like it was pushed out by the door pushing on it)

2. where should i take it to get it done relitivly quickly and high quality work price matters but id rather have the work done right and quickly then worry bout the price... i called body by duie and im gonna call ficcarros and dj's monday

thanks in advance for reading my little rant and for advice

I had to have my driver's door and rear 1/4 replaced after I got hit by some stupid B word and it cost her $4100, but I don't think your going to end up paying that much.

kinda i normally hold the door while i reverse i used to have plenty of room but with the new rail i didnt pay attention to i was bout an inch short of room :{ yea i know its stupid but like i said i did it a million times before and it became a habit... oh and i dont need a fender the fender is fine just the door needs replaced fender got wedged outwards by the door pushing it.... but somehow i got lucky and it didnt push forward into the front end at all just where the windshield cowl thing for the wipers is got pushed outwards maybe a 1/8 inch

That sucks. But what was I telling you about waiting for another ding or scratch before getting anything fixed! Just think if you had already gotten the car worked on then this happened. 1 booboo is not enough to get your car fixed, you need at least 2 and now you qualify!

this is completely unrelated but this might fix it:

my cousin used to have a 99 cherokee and he is a pretty big guy. well we got out of the car at my friends house my friends dog started chasing him. he ran around the car once and came back around nose first into the corner of the open door. that bent the brackets (and his big ass nose) out of shape. my friend and i fixed it by holding out the door and banging the door brackets until it lined up. this could make a good temporary fix so you can drive the car temporarily or so you can hold off on the complete fix.

the story itself was to show you the similarity of the damage (and for personal amusement)

hehe the personal amusment worked but the fix wont sadly... the whole hinge assembly is bent way to far off for a temp fix.... so im just taking it in getting it all done nice then having them buff the whole car ect that way i get it looking better then when i bought it :P plus the 2 little scratches will have to be blended into the door so they get fixed as well so hopfully ill get it back almost perfect

Rich, I have a spare set of driver's side hinges if you need them. I bought a set for the passenger side for my car and have the driver's side left over. It might be easier than trying to get your hinges straightened.

Can you post pics?

Also, be prepared for a few more things than what you listed. They're going to have to blend into the fenders and the 1/4 panel....so that's more $$ right there. Was there any hinge pillar damage that you could see?>

no hinge pillar damage that i could see.... but the quotes i got were with blending in and everything im going to check out shop called robert christopher auto tommarow he quoted me over the phone for everything i could see i needed for 1400 of course hes gonna actually need to see it first but that seemed like a good price and he guarentees his work as long as i own the car... its a rather big shop and they always have a vette or 2 outside getting worked on so they must do pretty good work.... anyway we'll see how it goes hopfully they can get it in this week so ill have it back in a couple weeks while they're fixing it im also gonna have the whole car wet sanded buffed and polished cuz im not confident enough to wet sand myself

I used to deal with that shop through my job. I've never personally seen their work but they're pretty easy to deal with. They seem like decent, easy going guys.

Oh man, That really sucks! here is what to do. Give dad the $4,000 estimate. Get the money, get the car fixed for $1,400, use the remaining $2,600 for the supercharger!

Just kidding! My one friend got his Z28 repaired in the Hillsburg area and they did an outstanding job for a very low price. I'll get the info to you ASAP.

well cars in the shop... took it to robert christopher.... went to his shop he seemed like a real cool guy (place used to be called strictly corvettes till her bought out his partner) the owner came out and talked to me for like 45 mins.... after talking to him i told him i liked what i saw when can he do it and he said well i got 2 shops so i could sent a truck to flatbed it at no charge whenever your ready.... so he picked up the car 2 hours later and i came back with it the actual price is gonna end up being 1700 bucks with touching up the 2 scratches i had since i bought the car.... and hopfully ill have it back by the middle of next week
