Billy Lane In Fatal Accident

Melbourne, Floridas' Billy Lane, of Choppers Inc. and "Biker Build off" fame, was involved in a fatal auto accident last night in Melbourne Beach. He was not killed, however, a man riding a moped was killed when Billy struck him head-on with his dually pickup. He had from the sounds of things, tried to pass some slowed traffic on a 2-lane stretch of highway A1A near his home, when he struck a man in his 50's who was riding a moped in the opposite direction. Billy was hospitalized with injuries from the accident, but I have not yet heard the extent of his injuries. Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

One of my employees, Forrest Smith, who was featured with Billy on an episode of the biker build off series, got the call this morning from his former wife, who is a close friend of the Lane family.

More later as Forrest was calling the shop to get more info.

I've got a lot of respect for him as a builder but crossing a double yellow line to pass someone is stupid. And if he was drunk....then he deserves whatever is coming his way.

That the same builder that almost flew off his bike doing 90 when he was riding his newly made custom to a show for biker build off and hit an 8 inch deep pot hole?

+100 on the drinking and the passing thing. We just had a whole discussion on stupid driving. Point proven. I feel bad for the family of the man killed.

And the same guy who got DQ'd from biker build off after riding a bunch of miles with a leaky gas tank that covered him in gas and eventually caught fire.

I think he's a great builder and it seems like he's a decent guy. He was at the HD dealership on Rt 22 last year and was a big draw.

Ditto on the passing-on-a-double-yellow thing, and if he was drunk he's in for a lot of trouble.
