theres a little LED by the shifter which is where he mounted the transmitter to send the controls back to the radio. so basically the radio thinks that transmitter is the remote that came with the radio, but it is really controlled my the steering wheel. its real nifty actually

I got it for like 35 dollars shipped on ebay. WELL worth it in today's use alone
It took me a try or two to program.. if you mess something up you have to start all over!!

I'm not sure what the corrolation was but this was the first thing that popped into my head.
I was on the beach a while ago and this hobo with one of those red flyer wagons walked by with a boom box blaring inside the wagon hooked up to a car battery with jumper cables somehow

eh, not new to me, lol, i had that setup since i installed my pioneer head unit in Oct 2001. having the radio controls remain functional is nice. and i have the infrared led in the same place.
oh and programming them is easy as hell, you press a steering wheel button then you point you radio remote at the infrared led and press the corresponding button, you do that for every wheel control and thats it. If i hold my am/fm wheel button, my monitor opens and closes.
