i can see this from both sides of the fence, i really dont post all too often in non classified threads (or as of late post at all) and i've never been to a club event bc its just not something i've been able to make time for ..since i dont actually live in jersey..and rarely go there anymore since my in-laws moved to NC
i originally signed up here for the sole purpose of using the classifieds, i'm far from a business but for awhile i did what ted does...buy a car to get a part or 2 ya need thats in really good shape..sell whats left to offset the cost of buying the car...example, ted bought my 91 formula which i had posted here, he only wanted the seats and afew other interior bits for his 89 formula, the rest i'm sure he just sold off hte best he could to offset the cost of buying my car and transporting it..i wouldnt really say he is running a business....but i can also see how it can be seen as taking advantage of the board...

cant we all just get along?

[off topic]btw is there any new shirts being designed for the board?[/off topic]

Yeah I think the biggest misconception is the server fees...for the capacity this site needs for the traffic it sees it ends up costing Justin/Tim something like $400-700/year...this is the host they use & some of the plans they have

http://www.knownhost.com/services/vps.html

mind you they charge a minimal amount per year for their sponsors so if they are lucky they break even.

I had this misconception a while back as well and sometimes the truth hurts, but in the end that is how much it costs for hosting a site with the amount of members are here.

Like Tim said rules were broken so they had to take action...I mean comon...all they ask is that you post a few times a week then have at it in the classifieds section...giving a few bucks for sponsoring for even a month wouldnt hurt the cause.

my only gripe with this whole situation is sometimes you come off as a very shady person. cars with no titles and no explaination why there isnt one or parts ive asked and asked for never seem to get a decent response. in the past ive even gotten warnings in my pm box for considering even doing business with you.

dont take it as a personal shot or anything like that, but it comes off as exactly what it probably is, shady business

hope you guys don't get mad at me then... I came here thinking someone with a car like mine may need my extra parts... not necessarily to make money cause these damn cars always cost me more than I make.... but if someone like an admin from this board has a problem sorry.. please give me a call.. I figured this board would appreciate my parts more than some schmuck from like ebay........ again sorry.. I just posted this as a pre appology....

You've got 3 posts.... plenty of time to offer your two cents on the tech boards, other lounge posts, etc.... if you're active in the classifieds and only the classifieds like the member in question that's one thing, but if you're active all over the boards that's another.

ok to get a better understanding i sometimes cars from inpound yards for the parts but cannoot sell the car complete,it must go back to the impaund yard so they can send it to the scrap yard so it can be recycled, i also get cars from the local junkyard sometimes, thats why the cars have no titles the arrangement are they get whats left back, this was a way to get parts, most cars are here for 2 weeks then they are gone no exceptions, its a great arrangement but with all the complications with the pregnacy with the wife and all the crap i have to go throught with parts i tryed to get out last year but still have so much crap its still going to take time to get out, and just concentrate on the family, come summer time i work for a tow company at night so i am not going to have time for much for this crazy habbit of mine, i have begun to pass on cars even cheep 4th gens, enought is enought,

400-700 to run this site for the year??!?!?!!??!?!? dangggg my boy from staten island has the same set up more people more hosting more sections and its a fraction of that cost!!!!!

i feel bad for ted.... his sellings are no where near a business and you guys are doing what you do best....ganging up on an individual like your rules go against that...... besides i think i sold a pair of 5 doller headlight covers in the past.... can i have a address to send my 50 cents worth of donation? 10% im a fair fair man..

ted asked the question, people are answering him. i have trouble seeing that as ganging up on him.

this isn't a tough place to hang out and there is certainly more than just the classifieds section for everyone to participate in.

Well then he either found a killer deal with a web host, or he's running sites that aren't nearly as server-intensive as this one....
