Starland Ballroom

I have a question. I've never been to the Starland Ballroom, but I'm going on Thursday to a concert. For those of you who have gone, is it worth it to buy StarParking, or should I just go regular parking?

That was quick. StarParking costs $15 through Ticketmaster and you don't have to wait for parking or on line to get in I think, but I'm not sure about that.

I just parked across the street last time I was there. Not one of my favorite venues.

Not worth it unless you need to park 5' from the door.

I think the last time I was there was when I played a ska/punk show with Ground 46 (like 8 years ago!). We were on before Inspecter 7. Not a bad place to see a show, or play, and parking was easy I thought.

Generally, I like those guys, but Weiland mutilated Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony a few weeks back. When the band was playing the intro, it almost sounded like VH on stage, until Weiland opened his mouth.

waiting in line there sucks if it's cold out. they move way too slow to get people in the door. i would pay an extra 15 bucks only if it can get me in the door right away (which i doubt it does). otherwise stick with regular parking.

long live hunka bunka shows

This is what it ways on the website:

Quote:
It's simple. When you buy a ticket to a Starland event, you have the option to purchase StarParking passes for an extra charge. Why purchase StarParking? Because a StarParking pass guarantees up-close parking for the purchaser's designated vehicle and line privileges for everyone in the vehicle. Line privileges doesn't mean you get in early or necessarily first. It does mean that you get in with the people at the front of the line - many of whom have been waiting for hours - regardless of when you arrive.

Star Parking FTL! Definitely park across the street at the VFW, they only charge $5. Their parking lot is better, and the money goes to a cause. With Star Parking, they still pack you in like sardines, and their lot has more craters than the moon. Not sure what that Line Privelage deal is about...I've been there many times and have never waited on a line. In fact, they only have 2 lines anyway....one for ticket holders, and one for will call.

There is an entrance on the other side of the front, facing the building, it is on the left. Pass holders go in that door.

you obviously have never seen a good band play there. when i went to see life of agony, i waited out there for over a half hour in temperatures below 25*

it was pretty similar when i saw bad religion there too.

If it was pre-Ugly-Kid-Joe Life of Agony, then it was worth it! Last time I was there I waited in line for about 45 minutes with my little sisters-in-law to see The Honorary Title, The New Amsterdams, Coheed and Cambria and Dashboard. It sucked, BTW (except THT).

The Starland. Sold out in minutes.

I dunno, I like the Starland. It usualy sounds good, a lot of shows are on the cheap side, and its general adminssion. Compared to anything else in the area, what's markedly better?

Actually, the last 2 I saw were Danzig and Pappa Roach, both sold out. We usually don't get there 'til around 9:30-10 'cause I don't like standing for 4 hours watching bands I never heard of before. Don't get me wrong, a lot of times the opening bands are great, but 3 is just too much. I'd much rather see the headliners play longer.

That's a joke, right? I'd much rather be closer and have better sound.

Pre-game partying (weather permitting) at the PNC > all other venues, no doubt.

i dont know, i like outdoor venues. i'm not a big fan of being cramped into a small place. i usually go with a blanket and claim a spot and enjoy the outdoors

I am so glad I asked for opinions here, cuz StarParking would have been a waste. Thanks people! And by the way, yea, Third Eye Blind is great.
