in the very beginning he said that the damage to the trans am was from $3000-$4000, that sounds like a lot of b.s. to me

Depends on the paint job I guess. I don't recall the front clip being cracked, just scuffed.  Didn't see the episode last night - did the Alsop's say anything about any other damage behind the front clip?

He did say the entire headlight bezel was being held in with zipties, so they must have some minor structural damage under the bumper cover. A good repair job probably would cost 3K; it needs a front nose cover, headlight assy., plus a strip/repaint on the hood/fender and blend to the rest of the car. If the hood/fender are damaged at all, that'll add to the price.

just a fender and headlight on my SS was $1,100, and that was not even blending the paint.
