key wont come out?

In a 06 cobalt ss, after the car is put into drive, and turned off, some times, you turn the key, and it wont come out, then it will click and then you can take the key out, We took it to a dealer, but all they did was scan the car and say nothings wrong..

sounds like the mechanical release cable the senses the shifter in park is binding up or isnt lubricated enough. i may be completely wrong since i never touched one of those cars, so its just a THEORY. Now if it allows you to turn the key fully to the off position and you just cant pull it straight out... then i have no clue.

in all seriousness, i had a similar problem with my camaro but they just replaced the whole ignition switch. the problem eventually escalated into my key not coming out at all

2006 Cobalt - matters not, it is a warranty problem. Report back when the dealer actually fixes the problem. SmokingSS is on the right trail, no doubt. I wonder why they did a scan for this problem.

same problem, you might need a whole new ignition switch. bonzo is right, its the dealers problem, not yours. tell them you think it is that and for them to check it out.
