De-Mod or Sell as whole?
I've come to a point with my car that I am absolutely sick of it. Yes I know it isn't supposed to be reliable since I messed with it, but I think its gotten to a point where its getting ridiculous that I am pissing so much money away on this car. I want to purchase a new car but right now the funds won't allow it since I owe my parents for some money and I have plenty of bills I would like to pay off.
I know a lot of older people will say, sell it and save your money and buy something else down the road, but I disagree. I see it to often when the older folks say "Oh I should have kept that car" or "I have a family now and I can't afford to buy that car and it will just have to wait" I hear the same thing from everyone. I'm young, I still go to college (which is paid for) I don't see myself getting married in the near future, and I don't have to move out immediately.
Should I just return my car back to stock, sell off the after market parts, and sell the car as is? Or is there a chance I could make more money off completely parting the car?

well if you decide to part it out, i would imagine you could get more money ontop of the car as long as you have all the parts to return it back to stock

sinc eyou will never get all of your money back that you invested you have to decide what your time is worth. if you return the car to stock to sell and get rid of all the upgrades and performance parts seperately you will get the most money back out of it.
if you sell it as is then you will saveyoruself a bunch of time and hassle in th eprocess, but not get nearly as much money back.

demod it and what not, sell it, and then do a LS7/6spd swap in your S10!

Why not return it to stock... and drive it? If your problems stem from all the mods, then sell the mods and drive the stock car. Make some money back, drive the car you enjoy, and put the money from the sold mods into some low yield, low risk investment. Finish school, keep your investments, get a job, and decide if you want to sell off the stock Camaro for something new down the road.

I think you would regret selling it; you have the S10 so theres no immediate need to drop tons of money into the camaro to get it to run right. It's your hobby and you invest what time and money you want to. I'm sure later down the road you're gonna reach the same point with a new toy as you are now and run into problems like everyone does, all over again. I say keep it. If you need to, return the engine to stock as far as heads/cam/intake and enjoy it for the summer. Save up your cash and build a strong bottom end to swap in with your heads/cam/intake over the winter. I'll gladly lend a hand with anything you decide to do as well

Demodding and selling off can take forever, and if you don't get rid of everything, then you're stuck with not as much money as you hoped and spare parts that might find the dump. I contemplated the same thing with my last car, but sold it for less than it was worth and it sold thankfully very fast. Good luck.

This is something that you really need to decide,,, but I give you my aged wisdom!
I know how you feel, been there many times. When you feel like your throwing good money after bad you just want to walk away. Just don't be too hasty in your decision so that you don't regret it later. I've done that on a few cars and really regret it now! I like my 93, but I wish I had kept going on the 84Z.
On my 84Z, I had built a 355 that was set for a 6-71 blower. Even without the blower in one year I broke a rear, DS (took out the exhaust and part of the floor), broke a clutch, wiped a cam, and broke 3 trans. When the trans broke the 3rd time it wiped out the remaining money I had saved to get the car backhalfed! I got so mad sold the blower to a friend and I drove it up and traded it in on the 93 and said THIS CAR IS STAYING STOCK. And where am I now? Sheet metal is all that's left stock! When I first built the 383 LT1 I pulled my motor apart 3 times before I got it right! All due to stupid little problems. Then it took an entire summer to get it tuned so I didn't get to drive the car for over a year. All I got to do was look at a big pile on money collecting dust!
Anyway, think about your car this way: If you buy another car and keep it long enough, drive it hard enough or start modding it your are going to be in the same place you are now. No car/engine no matter how well built will last forever, things will wear out, and things will break, and you'll always be doing something to the car. That's just the facts of being a hotrodder! And the more you push the limits the more likely you are going to break something! No matter what GEN engine you build. I work at a drag strip and I see everything from stockers to high dollar 600+ CI engines break, trans break. Stuff happens,,,,
What you need to decide is if you want to continue on this project, or start another. But unless you walk away from this hobby it never ends. I think you have it in your blood, you’re not going to be content with stock times, and you’re going to want to push further!
That means you’re going to be stuck in the circle of fix one thing and something else goes wrong. Our cars are NEVER, looking just the way we want, are fast enough for what we want, have all the toys we always wanted. The time we spend driving our cars is the time we get to decide what we are going to change next!
You've run into some really $hitty luck, no denying that! and there ins't really anything that can change it now. All I can say is just think hard about what you want to do.
If you do decide to waljk away from the car, then I would say to part it out, you'll get more money selling parts then trying to sell a none running car.
My .02
John

it is a difference of many thousands of dollars. if it was a cold air and a cat back it would be one thing, but with the heads, cam, intake, suspension, and other stuff alex has done he would get 1/3 by selling it complete vs selling a stock car and all the parts.

NO NO NO WRONG! LT1 was on a platform all byself. LS1,LS6,LS7,LS4 and the new LS3 are all based off of the LS1 and lots of parts have stayed the same also or slightly upgraded. Also most of the parts of compatible to upgrade older LS1's such as LS6 clutch and oil pumps, LS7 clutch,Lifters etc.. Also the LS1 is already 10 years old if you didn't know. CASE CLOSED....
