Firebird question

How hard would one have to hit a deer to deploy the air-bags, make the bumper fall off, and destroy the windsheild of a 2000 firebird??

I slowed to 30 and had one of those damn things try to JUMP over the hood of my 97 Firebird. Ripped both headlights off and scratched the hood, but the rest was ok.

In 2001, i hit a deer at about 15-20mph in my SS... car was 4 days old and had only 500 miles on it... i was pissed. Luckily bambi had lost its footing fight before the hit and my drivers side front bumper hit its torso instead of taking out its legs. I came to a stop but punted Bambi down the road and caused it to slide on its side about 15 feet... i could see it tryign to run as it was sliding and little puffs of fur were coming off. Finally it stopped and jumped up and ran away. Only damage the car got was a 3/4" crack in my fender(right to the side of the headlight and had some hair in it, lol), a bolt behind the headlight punctured the back reflector, and it bent a fender bracket. however... repairs cost me 1100. All GM parts and a high quality body shop... after i hit bambi, i went to the local cops and yelled... they asked me what i wanted them to do about it.. i said go find it a shoot the bastard! they laughed i was serious

Social Networks:

Deer damage can vary greatly based on speed of the car, where the deer hit, and how large of a deer it was.

My mom hit at deer in her '95 Caravan while she was doing under 20mph (she had seen several others cross the road, and had slowed down). The van was totaled, but it would have needed a hood, both fenders, bumper, radiator, battery, A/C condensor, and other various small parts.

Thanks guys Im buying a 2000 firebird that a lady hit a deer in, dosent look too bad, but needs some work. The bumper fell off, the headlight bucket is destroyed, the airbags deployed, and the windsheild got cracked from one of the airbags. They also said that the metal support behind the bumper got bent. Shes including new airbags, and a front bra to cover up the damage.
