i did 101 mph on the turnpike once.... just to get into TRIPLE DIGITS and say i was moving that good to all my friends with fast cars.....
my friend hit 110ish with me in his 98 z28 6 speed and i felt the front tires start to get light from all the air being forced under the front air dam.... his car was noo joke at those high speeds... fastest thing i ever been in...
ps... how do you know you were doing 170? do you have a 200mph speedo?

Ron had a point the car can hit 160mph in a standing mile to in another half a mile he tops out then on the 3 mile stretch by him he has another 1.5 miles to slow down and if this is done in the early morning probly like 5 am on a sunday there is not 1 car on that stretch. I have never been on rt.55 nor do i live near it but down south there are some back roads that are pretty straight.

cause he was in 6th and the car stopped pulling but the rev-limiter wasn't maxed out. He hit the 170 speed limiter which he set FOR the 3.73 gears with HPtuners. I believe ever word it, and I think any one who gone for a night time ride with him would agree. That car handles awesome under high speed it feels real secure around 140, so with the KYBs set to 8 I see no reason the aerodynamics wouldn't take effect and hold the road tight

ooo... well by all means my friend doesnt have any KYBs at 8...
my friend hit 110ish with me in his 98 z28 6 speed and i didnt feel that safe or tight.... i really felt the front tires start to get light from all the air being forced under the front air dam and a little possible nose lift.... his car was noo joke at those high speeds... fastest thing i ever been in i could never imagine 170...
whats that bad boy turn in the 1/4s if his standing mile is 170?

Some of you folks must remember, if you dont already know, rt 55 is a freeway, 2 lanes in each direction, big grass median. great for excessive speed in some parts. i do this once in a while, on good weather days only; i know what parts of the road are good and bad. I dont go hucking myself at high speeds if theres traffic, or if i see something in the road ahead. my tires are Z rated, my suspension is very good. it does not float, it stays tight and straight.
Also, Remember this- I didnt go posting about how smart/safe it is to do 170mph, so no need to argue, or tell me how stupid and dangerous it is, i already knew that before i went over the speedlimit Even in the most controlled situations, ***** happens.
You only live once; My day will come when it is time.

this kind of display of speed on public roads is exactly why so many politicians are looking to shut our hobby down. we are going to put an end to this discussion now, before any more ammo is handed out to those who seek to ruin the hobby we enjoy.
