				I always wondered something...

whenever i read a kill thread i always hear, 'he cant drive', 'he cant shift', blah blah blah...how?...like ive been thinking about it, driving a car fast isnt difficult..i have more trouble tying my shoes than ripping off a clean powershift...so the question is, why cant people drive?...is there an actual excuse for an able bodied person not being able to drive good?

yes...some people can't co-ordinate hearing RPMs pressing the clutch shifting releasing the clutch and/or stopping back on the gas...some people can. It is also having that ability that drives us toward American cars. I've met very few ricers with any kind of driving ability AKA the signature 2nd gear bog.

look, if people could drive, there wouldn't be so many traffic accidents. that's normal driving, not even spirited driving, and they can't handle it.

Its one of those thing you just have to be born with. Its very hard to learn. My Camaro was the first car I owned with a manual trans. took me 2 minutes to get used to it and a week to learn how to drive it like a Camaros meant to be driven

It's not the driving part, its all the distractions.
Radio, makeup, food, cell phone, looking for the street signs, kids in back seat... That's one reason why people screw up. Pointing a car down the road, between two lines, and pressing the accelerator with your foot isn't hard. Another reason is the agressiveness that exceeds a persons wisdom / reflexes. Then finally, the sheer oblivion some folks have to their surroundings. Simply operating the car isn't hard.

the trans didn't go.....the clutch got contaminated cause the cover fell off...and the rod bent for some reason I can't even begin to guess at. The previous owners put that car through HELL when I got it was beaten and barely runnable...none the less I drove it for a year. and I drove it VERY hard

you absolutely have to be born with it. and if ur not, u better have one helluva passion for it so u'll be motivated enough to put the time and practice into it that's nesessary to learn. there's a certain connection between the feel of the road under your car and ur ability to read it and react to it. some people really just cant be bothered to pay attention, or some just cant feel it at all. either way without it, ur not half the driver u should be and make urself an obstacle to be avoided on the road rather than a peer.

#1 Know your car. Learn where it shifts and how it handles. Listen to the motor, don't rely on your guages only. Hear it and feel it.
#2 Bolt ons....just slapping on a bunch of parts won't make it fast. People don't always look at the big picture. Some parts are for HP some are for TQ. And sometimes they don't necessarily work together. Plan it out.
#3 Some people are out of touch with reality, they think they have a hell of alot more than they really do(ricers).
P.S. Squirrel, just curious....what are your times and mods? just curious. not trying to start any crap.
