best tuning?

i'm going to be installing headers soon, so i wanted to know where would be the best place to get my pcm tuned on my 00 LS1, should i go to cartek which is 20 minutes from me, or SLP which is quite a trek, which one has the best deals/tune?

the best deal in tuning is in your driveway. if you have a laptop, an understanding of the bare bones basics of how an engine works, and a few free minutes to read some help files and ask questions on a web site you have everything it takes to buy HPTuners once and have unlimited tuning for the rest of your life.
the software only costs a little bit more than most places will charge for a mostly generic dyno tune one time.

www.HPTuners.com

several of our members use the program and can help with any questions you may have.

i got to ttp. i think if you go there for the first time it's like 550 for a full dyno tune.

2nd time is like 250.

CARTEK FTW! Julio is the best! The cars coming out of there not only perform on a dyno but at the track as well. Plus its close to you.

HP tuners, a site sponsor, will blow cartek away, hands down. your choice, you know, between someone you don't know who could care less about your final tune, and someone you rub elbows with on a daily (weekly?) basis. i'd go HP tuners.

The software doesn't require anything fancy. You should be able to find a used laptop that will run HP Tuners for under $200.

I think that the slightly larger initial investment is more than worth it, considering that you'll be able to fine tune your setup on the street and at the track, as opposed to on a dyno.

HP Tuners is full of help files, and they have a great forum for support if you are a little hesitant about diving into your car's PCM.

Good luck in whatever your final decision is...thankfully many shops use our product to tune your vehicle anyway so your supporting us indirectly

If you ever do decide to purchase our software though you won't have any regrets...between being able to scan any GM vehicle and many late model Fords, the ability to customize your pcm the way YOU like it, and being able to tune up to 4 separate vehicles with your initial purchase you really can't go wrong in the long run.

If I were to do it over again I would've done my own tuning from the start, but im the type of person that likes the feeling of accomplishment after I've done something myself.

all you have to do is click on each funtion. there are a ton of help menus, HPTuners has a large forum to help, we have members here with extensive knowledge of the program, and there is even a tune dump on the HPTuners site to help you get started.
