What to do next-YES AGAIN!

Well i recently purchased a beater car(civic hatch 40-50 mpg & i am stuck on decisions about my 94 camaro. The car has perfect interior great exterior minus front and rear bumpers(need paint) and the engine still runs very strong(118,xxx). I have come up with a couple scenarios and i was just wondering what you guys would do in my situation. 1. Buy a bare bone 383 stroker short block, subframe connectors, get my heads professionally port and polished, get a 700r4 trans, torque convertor 3600 stall, bigger Tb, and a custom cam. & be i the 11's(supposedly). Or 2. Save the camaro for awhile just for fun then wait and save for an Ls1 6-speed. Keep in mind that i am a full time college student but i still work 40 hours a week. And any other options you guys can think of would also help me. i'm kind of stuck. Thanks

which woudl you enjoy more, an 11 second automatic LT1 or an LS1 + 6speed swap?

that is really the question you have to answer yourself. it is your car and you have to build it the way you will best enjoy it.

now when you say LS1 6 speed, do you mean swap that motor into your car, or buy a 98-02 fbody?

ok, but doing an LS1 6-Speed swap would cost just as much as if i were to buy a camaro with an ls1 6-speed.

Don't waste time thinking about a 6 speed swap. It sounds like you're set on getting an LS1 6 speed car so don't waste too much time or money with your 94 for now. Just enjoy it as it is and maybe do a couple of easy/cheap mods if possible. When you get done school and start bringing in a better paycheck, then take the time to look for what you really want. Just try to keep the current car as clean as possible and fun to drive for now.

If I were you, I wouldn't swap anything into your current chassis that wasn't OEM for your year. This means no 700-R4 and no LS1/T56.

I would buy a crate 383 from somebody like Golen and swap an LT1 T-56 into your current chassis.

Exactly!! I was going to do that in my v6...but it was way cheaper and less headaches to sell the v6 and buy the Ls1 already in the car

you could always build up the LT1 you have now. i read an article on a 760hp LT1 build up, it was stroked to 396, had nascar SBII heads, a pretty mean cam, and I believe it was carbed. You could stay with fuel injection you'd just need a MUCH better top end.

No one can answer the question on what YOU want. Sure building up a motor is fun, building a car from start to finish gives you that feeling of accomplishment but if you want a LS1 6-speed car then get it. The good thing is that the '94 is in good shape so you don't need to rush into a decision. The motor/trans for the 94 could always be built slowly as funds become available. In some people's minds that beats a car payment. Plus, if you get the LS1 car you better set some $$ aside for mods because you know damn well you won't leave it stock.

if you plan on making it more of a track car, dont go M6 cause its not consistent and much harder to launch, if you plan on driving it on the street just build the bottom end and spray it. when you want the power its there and when you dont its not... that easy.

I will never spray a car i've heard too many horror stories. I'm not really looking for a track car just a car to have fun ripping through gears in. Take it to the track every once in awhile. i guess what im gonna do is keep the car for the time being save some money sell my beater drive my camaro for alil then sell both and get a Ls1 6-Speed. THANKS GUYS!

horror stories from people who didnt have it set up properly. ask anyone who has a real race car with a proper nitrous set up how many bottles have gone through their engine. dont get me wrong, **** can happen but you can also blow up a n/a motor too.

You mean like spraying nitrous dry into the throttle body of a tuned port car with no fuel enrichment whatsoever?
