New best in the Z
12's are so close I can taste them. I'll be back next week hopefully at Atco or Island.
1st Run w/ Cut-Out open
R/t - .199
60' - 2.296
330 - 5.835
1/8 - 8.672
MPH - 87.40
1000 - 11.112
1/4 - 13.156
MPH - 110.38
2nd Run W/ Cut-Out closed
R/t - -.024 (Red Light, who cares)
60' - 2.349
330 - 5.923
1/8 - 8.710
MPH - 88.89
1000 - 11.077
1/4 - 13.070
MPH - 112.97
All on my stock 16" Bridgestone Potenza 245's @ 18psi. No burn-outs, just rolled up to the light and staged at 3k RPM's and slipped it out at the light. Launches to me were pretty good, but there was some tire slippage as expected but I think I controlled it pretty good.

That's really high 11 / low 12 second mph Alex....you need to launch that thing! You might have been better off with the fatter tires, even if they don't have much sidewall to flex.
Go update the Timeslip list!

He'll save his rear as long as he doesn't get sticky tires....never get enough traction to break the rear, like Paul!

You're almost there, Alex. I'm heading to the track as soon as I get mine tuned. I'm gonna shoot for low 12's. I definitely think you can do better. I had the same speed with my 12.85 last year.

glad to hear you finally got it to the track. what are the specs on the motor? cam?. Did you weight the car? There is certainly more in it. Good luck.

email melissa at island or post on the track rental thread for 04/18 island track rental. you will have enough runs to figure out your launch technique and maybe hit some of those faster et's your looking for.

yea dude you need to open that thing up off the line, I'm running more than a second slower and cutting 60's 3 tenths faster, with 215s and a ton of hop

runnind a second slower helps your 60 compared to his, the power difference is huge, you also have an automatic.......its not a comparison

The problem with running the 18's and the 315's is the tires rub when I accelerate, and I haven't rolled the fenders yet so any wider then a 275 is going to rub and tear life off the tires.

Its just a healthy cammed LT1
I'm going to search for a used pair of 275/16 or 17" drag radials.

With that kind of power I hope your 10 bolt will last a couple of good launches for you so you can get that 11 second slip.
Almost 113 MPH is down right awesome man...congrats!

The way Alex's car is setup suspension wise (auto-x if im not mistaken), with a heavy road race k-member up front, a "healthy" lt1, 6 speed, and 245 street tires...his 60' isn't that bad, and a little more seat time it might come down, but sub 2.0 with that setup might be hard.
A low horsepower car with decent gearing and an automatic has more of a chance getting a sub 2.0 60' and raping his car out of the hole...because he will most likely be spinning through his first 3 gears or feathering the throttle to try and get ahold of the ground.

why? it was his first time launching the new set up and he was using 18 inch street tires
it will take some getting used to and maybe a tire, and he will get those short times easily

the suspension in alex's car will not allow enough weight transfer even with it softened all the way up. The best you can do with a car like that is run the math off of the MPH on the big end..
