NYIAS...eh
Has anyone had a chance to go to the NYIAS? I went today and i gotta say i wasnt impressed at all. Im not saying thins just because i love gm, but they definatly had the best cars out. honda was more of the same. boring and riced out cars. The Mugen SI, another SI and some horrible looking s2000 with a F&TF wing. The rest were the usual cars that i can see everyday. Toyota was well toyota...boring. Lexus had some nice cars. The IS is actually really nice. Outside they had the ISF on a Mustang Dyno. They let you sit inside and floor it to 120 using the paddle shift....whooptie do.. The car is nice though. But again, basically all the cars were regular cars you see everyday. Nissan was ok. Same bs as the others except they did have the GTR which is was kinda looking forward to see given all the hoopla about it.. 80,000 my ass. im sorry. Maybe it was because i had just seen the Z06, which is at the very least on par if not better than the GTR, for at least 15,000 cheaper. And the ZR1 which granted its 20,000 more, but it would make that car look like a fiat. The new G37S was there. 330hp. not bad. its actually pretty nice. The Ztune 350z though is pretty ugly. The euro's were watever. same ol crap. overall i didnt see anything there that really stood out. nothing new fresh or innovative from them like they usually do.The gm's though really impressed me. they're finally comming out with some quality products. Their interiors have gotten so much sweeter. but not just the quality, but also the design. All the Jap cars look like they were designed by the same damn dude. at least with the GM's they look fresh. the new malibu's interior loks way better han most of the 30,000+ imports. The Caddy's, forget it. they had the CTS coupe there which was sexy as hell. they had the new ctsv and stsv. the G8 GXP. No G8 ute though. a fw other nice gm's out there. the biggest suprised... hyundia. who would have thought them of all companies would go after a mustang, and actually build a better car..

i wouldn't be so quick to downplay the new Hyundai. many enthusiasts are really interested and we can expect it to steal some sales from the upcoming camaro. The new GTR isn't as big in person as it looks in pictures, I'm still impressed with that car. The S2000 CR that you didn't like is actually a phenomenal car. high 13 second car with the right driver, but the wing is ugly. I love the new RX8. nice interior, improved looks, but unfortunately the same garbage drivetrain. new maxima is pretty, but probably still FWD. I was restrictedf on time so i didn't get to see alot of things, but i think it was a good show. lots of cool cars to look forward to

Actually, it's only 8 or 9 thousand cheaper...the '08 Z06 has an MSRP of ~$71,000

yes, they showed the G8 ST, G8 GXP, and Solstice Coupe at NYIAS. All production, no concepts.

wth man. i didnt see the g8 ute there! damn it. im going on sunday again with the gf maybe ill see you guys there.
the hyndia is actually pretty cool. who kows how its gonna hold up during hard driving over time and stuff but its still a great idea. 225hp turbo 4 cyl and a 300hp v6 in a 3100lb car,. not a bad deal. id just be worried about its quality. i know they've gotten better but still, its different building a car that s gonna be beatin on more often than not.

It was there! It was over in front of the main Pontiac kiosk near the Caddies. We saw it today, and it's cool as hell! 1K lb. payload, can tow up to 3500 lbs., and it has the 360hp 6.0L motor.

I was told they're having a contest to name it, it won't be the G8 ST

Correct. go to pontiac.com, and go to upcoming vehicles. Then click on the G8 Sport Truck, and then there is the contest there.
