My parents lost power for a few hours, I think from 4:30-7, which was weird because it was before the storm hit. We lost power for a few seconds during the storm, and it came right back on.
And I'm home from work today, because Cliffside has no power. School is closed!!

I'm in Bloomfield and still don't have power since 8 pm last night. We got smashed with heavy winds, pouring rain and 1/2" hail pounding down for about 30 min.
PSE&G sucks balls. They had an automated message saying power would be restored by 11 pm then it changed to midnight. At 1 am I called and was on hold for 20 min because they stopped the automated message. The jerkoff that answered said they never had such a message, and they could have power on by this afternoon, but not likely and it could be days, they have NO CLUE.

Then, even if they fix the big problem we noticed a cable in the back of our house that goes to a telephone pole in the back of the property is down. I'm not sure if it's a powerline or what the hell it is. SO, by the time they get my house back up I'm sure all the food in fridge is spoiled. Fabulous. Here is a big FU to PSE&G

I lost my mind for a short time while I was trying to get my kids in bed while it was thundering. They ran around crying because they were scared of the storm.
Fortunately I got my mind back this morning.

 | I heard it was a substation fire near you that caused your outage. Could take a while...at least it happened after the major heat (though it still is pretty yucky out heat-wise).

Yeah I was in West Orange dropping off a permit the other day when there was a fire at PSE&G in W.O. that cut power to lots of areas. I know the North end of Bloomfield did, as did areas of south orange, west orange, caldwell, etc.

And the bridge in Hackensack by Bowler City was completely pwned by leaves and branches, looked like a hurricane ripped through there!

It didn't come close to Hawthorne, but it looked liked it pounded everything east of us like the Paterson/Clifton area.
