got layed off today
this F'n blows. our economy is in the ****ter and its just getting worse. so we have no work at my job. thought id have a nice friday at atlanic detroit diesel like always when my shop stuwart told me and 6 other guys to go upstairs and proceeded to appoligize. went upstairs to the office to find out that myself and 15 other hardworking guys are no longer employed. this really sucks. they say that they will call us back in order as they get busier. but who knows when the hell that will be. i have to call the business rep in the city to see if he has anything for me. but from what i heard last the union that i belong to is also hurtin in the city. my future isnt lookn to good right now. i filed for unemployment when i got home. i really hope that this is temporary. it was an awsome job. the funny thing is that it was a year to the day that i was hired. i was hired and layed off on the same day lol. oh well, sorry for my little rant im alittle down in the dumps right now. anyone interested in buying my 68 camaro(needs alot of work and i need the money)

I feel your pain brother, but you did the smart thing. As soon as you are laid off file for un employment. You've paid into it for how long? Get some of it back and use the free time to catch up on some projects, sleep, reading, etc. etc. Take a class, spend time with your family and/or friends. You'll be back before you know it.

At least you have unemployment which is good. Sorry to hear about your situation though.
88 Iroc Vert-You were able to collect even though you were fired? Did NJ deny you and then you filed an appeal or were you approved right from the beginning?

Check around, diesel repair is still in pretty high demand. I know Ransom Cat is always hiring for one thing or another. They do generators, trucks, equipment, the whole deal. Maybe that would be a good place to check.
Just keep your head up, things are already starting to turn around a little. A lot of the banks that were smart about lending before are starting to write a lot of refi's and lines of credit. Won't be long before everything else starts to pick back up too.

thanks alot guys. now that i cooled off a bit. ive thought about it and talked to the other guys that got layed off. its not the end of the world. im gunna call my union rep in the city first thing monday morning and hopefully hes got something for me in the city. i really want to stay in the union. but for now, im gunna take a long overdue vacation. no more getting up at 5am. im gunna collect from unemployment and just relax and enjoy myself for a while. it will give me a chance to catch up on some yard work and work around the house. that should keep my parents happy. im just really glad that i live at home

Exactly. Rake up the leaves and take it easy for a little while. You have paid into unemployment for how long?????? Like I posted before catch up on some projects/movies/reading/hobbies. Spend some time with your family, and take a breath and relax. It's rare that you get the chance, enjoy it!
