Simple version:
UN says 'You guys stop shooting at each other'
Israel/Hamas 'I'll stop when he does!' in unison while pointing at each other
UN 'Well stop it now or we will take action!' trying to be tough
Israel/Hamas 'We will agree to the cease fire as long as we can keep fighting'
UN 'Ummmm OK. Just take a long lunch so we can get some shopping done'
Israel/Hamas 'OK'
Basically all you have to do is make the voices speaking those of a bunch of second graders arguing over who started it and you have the full scope of the situation.

In Palestine's defense, they will eventually be right by using this method. lol
What is bothering me about this whole situation is that both sides have been busted by the UN for hiding weapons, munitions, and soldiers in schools and religious structures. I am not gonna blame one side or the other for hitting buildings that wound and kill innocent bystanders if they were put in harms way by their own military and government. I will blame each side for using their own people as shields and blaming the other side for the result.
This whole conflict serious makes me think of a bunch of little kids arguing.
