NAIAS Stuff
Here is a buch of stuff you might be missing from the Detroit Auto Show
Cadillac Converj Concept
Caddy's "Volt", an E-REV vehicle from Caddy using "Voltec". This is a concept now, but as Ed Welburn says in our GMI interview, they always tend to design for reality.
Chrysler 200C EV aka Next Gen Chrysler 300

This is the next generation Chrysler 300. Chrysler showed all thier future vehicles to the press over the summer, and they raved about the new 300's design. This is it in concept/EV form. IMO, beautiful.
2010 "Superman" Ford Taurus

If the current Taurus is the "Clark Kent", this is the "Superman" Taurus. SHO model will return with 355hp Twin Turbo 3.5 Ecoboost V6. The Ecoboost will replace a lot of the V8's in Ford's line up
2010 MB E-Class

Ugly as sin. They ruined of the most classic looking Benzs ever.
Lexus HS250h

Its Lexus's Prius, its designed and built to be a hybrid and nothing else.
Other Vehicles at this link including the 2010 Chevy Equinox, 2010 Buick LaCrosse, and a few other concepts

That 200C is a nice lookin car. Is it planned to be the same size as the 300 or will it get down sized and turn to FWD?

The 200C's dimensions are smaller then the 300, but the 200C's does have a RWD set up. There seems to be arguments that this might be the sebring, but the dimensions would but it way way way too close to the next gen 300.
Sebring's "Project D" crashcourse redesign will probably be shown soon too since the current version, as well as the Avenger, were absolute garbage.
I have another shot to add...cant belive I missed it...

You do realize most of you are ****in ********?
Ive said it before, Ill say it again, I will give praise where praise is due. I like more then GM. Just the fact that Chrysler and Ford has put out absolute garbage for the past decade is not MY fault, doesnt mean I have to applaud them.
So next time its ZOMG OMG ZOMG BIG AL IS A STUPID GM LOVAR!! just remember that you need to realize that what I say is true, and that maybe YOU are the nuthugging dbags?
I could make a 3 page long thread about GM's faults. I could get into how the CTS really is a good car, but not a great car and doesnt have what it needs to compete because it GM couldnt run Caddy if they had 400 billion dollars.
I could get into the fact that the blob of garbage between Bob Lutz, Rick Wagoner and GM Engineers/Designers should be shot for treason.
I would black out trying to describe the stupidity for GM listening to Buick dealers reguading NOT bringing the Park Ave via Holden here, but instead developing the FWD POS called the Lucerne to market.
How about the fact that GM has tons of fantastic product, but cant market it?
Or the fact that GM does need to downsize big time, restructure and relaunch only 3-4 brands.

Want the perfect example of how bad GM's marketing is, they are planning to do the invited guest thing to the Philly Auto Show again. The site they put the sign up's on, is in upstate NY and south eastern Canada!!! If there was ever an example of retarded marketing failure needed, I think that pretty much paints the picture.

Flawed? No, they are the truth.
People think its skewed because its against the norm, and yeah I tend to praise GM, but I praise them where I can.

That caddy concept is sexy.
And that taurus actually isn't bad looking. I'd rock that mommy mobile.

Not digging the next-gen 300. Looks too much like Sebring. The new Taurus on the other hand looks damn nice.

Al, has there been any more mention of GM bringing in more of the compact diesel technology that is so widely used over seas? They seem to be importing all the platforms, now I want the rest of the drive trains. A 2.5 turbo diesel with near 300ft/lbs and 45+ mpg sounds like a good way to get around town

Well, GM doesnt seem to be taking the diesel charge, but VW and BMW are. IMO, they should. GM can then follow them over. BMW has a bunch of new Effiecny Dynamics commercials talking about the "new" diesel engines in the 335di and the X5d.
GM has a crap load of awesome class leading diesels, but untill American's change thier perception on diesel's, its gunna be shoveling **** against the tide.
