EVAP code

so i had an ses light on for a while an checked it out today. i forget the code but it was for the EVAP valve. i had this problem not too long ago and replaced it. then it came back. from what i understand its an emission control feature that makes sure the gas tank isnt releasing fumes into the air. i dont think its a leak in the lines b/c when i open it to fill up it sounds like a vaccum. anyone else had this problem? or maybe an idea of where/how to check for a hidden leak?

you need a smoke machine. the tolerances for leaks is so freakin small, you can't tell by yourself. check the lines for dry rot/cracks esp where they make connections.

If it comes on again, and your sure that the valve and lines are good, try checking the charcoal canister.

Are you sure you replaced the right sensor because there are two.
The round one is the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Vacuum Switch (PCM controlled flow)
The square one is the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve (PCM regulated flow control)

and ther are 3 codes
DTC P0441 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System No Flow During Purge (Clog)
DTC P0443 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Solenoid Control Circuit (No control)
DTC P1441 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Flow During Non-Purge (Leak)

Hope this helps

When the charcoal cannister goes bad, the insides dry out and fall apart and can get clogged up in the lines. I had bits of it all the way up at the intake manifold on my old 96 SS. If the problem comes back, you might want to check the cannister.
