First Stig was a great driver, second Stig was an amazing instructor and very good driver, hopefully third Stig can live up to his predecessors.

The first two, yes. Ben Collins was White Stig, I forget the name of first Stig. Black Stig originally was Perry McCarthy, there was supposedly another Black Stig at one time as well.

I heard that there was several drivers that were "Stigs".
Monday night, they had a Germany vs Britian fight, and the last race was a DB9R vs a 911 GT3. They had German girl, the Ring Queen, in the GT3 and "Capt. Slow" May driving the DB9R. The Germans had a 4 sec head start, and somthing like a total of 3 laps.

The Stig is the tamed racing driver. They like to keep his identity a mystery and it is written into the driver's contracts to keep it so.
The idea is to prevent leaks about upcoming episodes and seasons, test gone awry or anything that is basically unairable.
While the hosts are all very good drivers in their own right, nothing compares to a seasoned professional driver pushing the limits of the most advanced engineering in the world around their test track.
BTW Al, The Ring Queen's name is Sabine Schmidt. She drives the "Ring Taxi" for a living. Basically for a small fee you get to be the passenger in the ultimate BMW joy ride in the world. She beats the car hard enough that the tires don't even last a whole day normally
Not the prettiest woman I have ever seen, but goddam can she drive.

Don't forget the Stig also has an American brother  He's popped up in a couple of episodes as well and also knows how to drive.

Yeah, he is a southern region SCCA guy. Forget his name. Very good driver, multi time national champ in both formula and door classes.

I dunno if anyone figured out who African Stig is. I know there were rumors that is was a former F3000 champion and multiple Euro Porsche Cup race winner. Forget his name, French guy.

Theres another stig from the "lorry" episode. Where they had to buy trucks and do a whole bunch of test's with them and Clarkson's truck ended up catching fire.

i thought this was a joke at first, but it appears to be based in fact. the joke, i thought, was the apparent penis inside the red circle (and it's size could only be attributed to a black stig):
