Ugh, night in the hospital - car accident.

And genie and I weren't supposed to be visiting any hospitals!!!!
And we weren't involved!
Shocking right?

My mom was going through an intersection and it appears like she was clipped in the back of the car (like maybe a pit manuver?), sent spinning and then hit a telephone or bigfoot or something?!?!?! It was the other persons fault per police.

They took her via ambulance to valley.... we got there and I was like.... I know that doctor, that nurse, that doctor, that nurse, that doctor, that nurse. Is it bad???

She has no broken bones, ekg is fine, cat scan is fine. She was very confused because she never saw it coming. She is banged up, sore, marks from seat belt, slight iritation from air bag dust, neck, back and left hand hurt etc. She spent only 4 hrs in the hospital and she went home last night.

They got the f*cker who did it. I am waiting on the police report for specifics because she is very confused/ memory isn't really there - she thought it was a hit and run but I spoke with the police and it wasn't.

As usual, the police and emt's were incredible - very warm and caring for her.

I saw the car last night - 2003 subaru wrx - the front is decimated, both air bags deployed, right rear bumper smushed - I'm going to get pictures shortly.

I would say with confidence that the car is totaled.

So, can anyone suggest a cheap, reliable AWD automatic brand new car?

Wow glad she is ok. Sounds like it happened really quick and sudden if she has no idea what happened. Crazy stuff but again, thankful it wasn't worse.
 Why not another subaru?

Sorry to hear about your mom James! Hope they prosecute the person. Why not get another Subaru since that one seemed to protect her pretty well from what you described.

Thanks everyone - I just saw the car and her.
 She is doing ok.

Car is shortened by 2-2.5 ft on the drivers side front.

She has decided to buy another subaru.

 I'll post pic's later

Cheap, reliable, and AWD? You aren't gonna do better than another Subaru for those requirements.

Improved suspension and they call it a WRX again. Supposedly it's as quick as a new STi in a straight line. Really slaps the owners in the face who bought a 2008.

We have gotten off topic but again, hope your mom is doing well.
