I would say this is about enough to get the ticket at least knocked down if not thrown out completely.
Next monday is my court date so this should be fun =)

interesting. i always thought the only rule was to yield to the right, as in yield to traffic coming into the circle ahead of you. now most circles are signed where to yield, so i guess that assumption was wrong. and now, to see this out of the driver manual... i had never heard of signaling intent in or around a circle.
edit: Whenever a motorist is in doubt concerning who has the right-of-way in a circle, he/she should exercise extreme caution and remember the basic rule governing any uncontrolled intersection: The vehicle to the left yields the right-of-way to the vehicle approaching from the right.
fight it. the cop was wrong to issue a ticket.

really?
back in highschool i had to do a presentation on circles for drivers ed class, and the info i found said that the people on the circle have the right of way, except where a major highway enters the circle. Now i dont know how a major highway is defined, but the Flemington circles are a mess, and this rule does not apply to how traffic flows there. Its pretty much a free-for-all, and if you stop, you die.
I would fight it, it will most likely be thrown out due to the lack of concrete laws regarding circles.

Well I got it dropped down to obstructing passage ticket which is only a $56 ticket +$33 in court fees. After spending 4 hours sitting there waiting to be called I honestly didn't feel like fighting anymore. No points & $89 instead of 2 points & $85 is a win IMO at this point.
Much better than the $300-400 tickets I had been hearing about people cutting "deals" for recently

I remember watching a segment on one of the local channels recently and they were talking about traffic violations. They talked about things like cutting through a parking lot to avoid a traffic light and driving barefoot. There were definitely rules for driving around a traffic circle. I know I always signal when I'm getting off the circle. Last thing I want is somebody running into me and claiming I cut them off. Sounds like showing up in court and acting like a responsible person is enough reason to get most tickets reduced.
