BigAl - Camaros in Production already?

I'm sure all or most of us have heard by now that Camaro production isn't scheduled to begin until 3/16......but what about this:

Definitely looks like the General got an early start

These are for retail sales, cars to put on dealer lots.

Next week starts builds of pre-orders. They are ramping up production. Balls out will be March 15th.

I will say, its a beautiful sight. I remember years ago how everyone said this day would never come. Here it is, the day Camaros started to fill the lots of a production plant. The day that Camaro's start hitting the streets again.
Shut your windows, lock your doors, hide your daughters, Camaro is Back.

This is just a small production run. But as someone said on GMI, its like a terricata army, ready to come alive.

How could they can it - they never announced it for production?

But in all seriousness - the chances that we'll see a Z28 in the next year or two are pretty slim.

Yeah that's what I meant I haven't seen or heard anything about it in a while now and the last thing I read said that it was being shelved with some of gm's other projects.

slacking? I dont think so. With 85% of preorders being SS, I dont see that at all.
If they did thier research, first 6 months tends to have a heavy draw on V8s, so expect to see a lot of 2SS/RS's hitting the streets as the entusiasts pour in.
After that, a good mix of 40/60 is what I belive GM expects, or at least wants.

Z28 is backburner for now. Everything is done. Its just that bringing out a 550hp supercharged supercar costing anywhere from 40-50k from GM is not what the world and taxpayers want to see.

Not what I meant....I know most of the pre-orders were for SS cars. I read in several places (and I think you mentioned it too) that GM wasn't prepared for that heavy of an SS pre-order (no idea why they wouldn't be) so some of the SS pre-orders would take a while to be delivered.

There are reports of pre-production mules being spotted all over the place. Like near the plant, with steelies & snow tires.

There are pre-pros all around Mich/Canada area. Lots of people involved in the project have recieved thier cars, including Fbodfather, and Chyerl Piltcher (i belive thats her last name) and they are both, if my memory serves me correctly, are LT/RS cars.

Yes, the head of Camaro development's car is a RS V6 car. Says volumes about the effort put into the car.

Im sorry, they are all Captured Test Fleet cars, not for resale yet. All cars made before the 16th will be driven as test fleet, finding the bugs. They do have VIN's, and will be sold as used through certain dealers.

I guess red and yellow are supposed to be the hot colors or were they just trying to make the test fleet as possible?

Its a goodlooking car, but i have a funny feeling w/ this economy sales are gonna blow...I hope im wrong but I dont see this car lasting any longer then the recent GTO. As we saw in the past enthusiasts arent enough to keep this car alive.

GTO was going to last 3 years no matter what. It wasnt going to last any longer.
