is it true that macco does crappy prep but good paint, i was talking to a guy who knows a dude who works there and he says if u wetsand, prep and tape yourself the paint itself isnt bad..don't think im headed to macco anytime soon but thats just what i heard
what do you think?

I had a car painted by Maaco in the 80s. It was all prepped...just needed primer and paint. They painted it all right...but no primer was added. I found out later because the guy I sold it to chipped the paint...saw all the work under it.
That's just wrong...

SOME Maacos can do a decent job but you need to do most of the prep work yourself and you will pay much more than the $199 Ambassador paint job. Most of their stuff is a scuff-and-spray or something along those lines. Visible panels only- no door jambs or anything like that.

It all depends if they feel like working that day lol.... just an fyi they use Sherwin Williams paint.... bottom of the line paint

It all depends on what Maaco you go to...Most like to prep the car themselves, mines going in Friday ill post pics when I get it back.

Its actually 100.00 bucks for them to prep the car, if you want to do it yourself they sell a $30-40 kit.

Maybe I was unclear. If you want a nice job, you need to do a lot of the prep work yourself.
