car insurance question

Does anyone on here have Grundy Collector car Insurance on there cars?? I am looking into it since I hardly drive my T/A since I have 3 other cars to drive. If so what are the details if any that I am not aware of? There website pretty much explains everything but I just want to know if there is anything else that I would need to know before getting this Insurance. Thanks for any help!!

The biggest questions seem to be age, locked garage and drivers record.

What Scott said. I looked into Grundy and all the others and the only reason I couldn't get that type of insurance was my age.

It says on the website that there is no age limit and no car age limit!! All you have to do is have another car as a daily driver..

Grundy's website says this:

Agreed Value (not like standard insurance companies who depreciate your car's value).
No Model Year Limitation
Highest Liability Limits
Automatic Coverage for (30) days on newly acquired collector cars
Unlimited Mileage

Where did you see the no age limit?

I didn't know about this either, I thought the vehicle had to be "rare" verified by a club president and at least 25 Yrs old. I might look into this for mine, I heard there is a mileage limit for the vehicle being covered, is that true?

^^don't confuse state registration with insurance.

Each company will have their own standards, but none are in the business to write just any 2nd car. From Hagerty:

Rare or "limited production" vehicles, model years 1987 or newer, such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Dodge Vipers and Plymouth Prowlers, etc. may be eligible for our exotic and special interest vehicle program. Because these are newer vehicles, Hagerty must ensure that the vehicle is being treated as a collectible and driven on a limited basis.

"Do I Qualify"
Usage
Hagerty provides coverage for collector vehicles that are used on a limited basis — e.g. club functions, exhibitions, organized meets, tours and limited pleasure driving.
Storage
Collector vehicles must be stored in a fully enclosed, locked garage when not in use.
Driver Eligibility and Driving History
Generally, one or two minor traffic violations or accidents are acceptable. We are not able to offer coverage to drivers with a major infraction within the past 3-6 years, such as an alcohol-related offense, reckless driving or an excessive speed violation.* Applicants must have 5 or more years driving experience in the following states: LA, MA, NM, NC, VA and WA. All household driver’s records are subject to review by an underwriter.
Regular-use vehicles
All licensed household drivers must have a regular-use vehicle to use for daily driving. Applicants must also maintain regular-use insurance in his or her own name.

http://www.hagerty.com/Auto/vehicle_qualify.aspx

I drive my K1500 about 1000 miles a year, it is not my DD. Hagerty is not going to insure it.

Then there are the usage rules, like mileage limits and where you can drive it. From what I can tell Hagerty has the least amount of usage limits out there – I’m not covered on the race track, but I am covered in the pits, etc. And that matters when claims arise – they can deny coverage (i.e. not pay) if you are using it in a manner that is outside of the policy limits – so if it says you can’t drive it to work, and you hit a kid on the way to work, you are SOL.

That was my understanding as well, and is why I went with Hagerty over Grundy.

I kept having people tell me "oh hagerty has mileage limts, hagerty has this, that & the other limit". then I posted my entire policy online, including the dec page (minus important data, of course). Oops, no more argument.

For me I put my car value at 17,000. It is 249.00 for the year. Thats with 2 speeding tickets. Its kept in a storage unit. There is a age limit on people who can drive my car. I am not alowed to let people under 25 to drive my car. I also put that I race my car, will modify it for more power and might change out the drivetrain.
