Sobriety Test

So my night starts out when I was getting ready to leave work (9:30pm). A buddy of mine calls me up and says to stop by the local bar and hang out, a bunch of my friends are the so I figured I'll stop by for a drink or two. I get there around 10 and sit down with 7 of my friends. I had 1 beers (Miller Lite) then stopped. I hung around for about an hour before I decided to make my 3/4 mile ride home. As soon as I leave the parking lot I see Crown Vic head lights haulin azz up behind me "Oh s*** thats a cop". He follows me for about 2 block then flicks the LIGHTS on. So I pull over into a parking. He comes up the my window and does the normal "license and registration please" So I give him my info. Runs my license and see's thats its clean. At this point, 3 more cops show up. Now it looks like a crime scene or they're arresting some drug lord.

Officer: "I'm pulled you over under suspicion of D.U.I., I saw you stumble walking back to your car, Sir can you please step out of the vehicle. How many drinks have you had tonite?"

Me: "Only one sir."

Officer: " I don't believe you. I saw you stumbling on your way back to your car."

Me: "I didnt stumble sir, I was having trouble walking across the icey pavement."

Officer: "Ok well I'm going to give you a Sobriety Test to tell me if your lying."

Now he pats me down and ask if I have any weapons "No". He then give my the pen tip test. Pass that no problem. ABC's, no problem, hold one foot 6inches off the ground, no problem, take 9 steps up and back along a stright line heel to toe. Once again, no problem.

Officer: "Oh wow, I guess you were telling the truth"

He lets be go. All the cops leave and then pull another car over about a half mile down the road. Theres no moral or point to this story but I figured I'd share it anyhow. Oh well, I didn't get a DUI or a ticket so I guess you can say it turned out well.

yeah, they shouldn't stop you outside the bar but he did let him go a couple blocks. i also think that is more so for public intoxication. it would also be if they stopped everyone coming out of the bar that night since that is profiling. really depends on your lawyer though.

It would take me at least a few minutes to do that right now...that was one test I never got. Probably 50% of people asked could fail that completely sober!

my buddy from p.a. would tell me how they'd all get bombed in the bar and drive home, but there was always a 'designated drunk' as they called him.
while everyone else was busy getting drunk, this guy was drinking soda and water, then at the end of the night he'd stumble out first, acting real drunk just so he'd get pulled over. while the police were wasting their time with him, the rest of the people in the bar (the real drunks) would jet out of there

Not saying that they don't do it, but it's not an original idea.

Sucks that the cop pulled you over and put you through that, but this is the time of year where drunks start killing a bunch of people.

I always think it's so funny how people want the police to bring criminals to justice but get enraged when the police interfere with their own personal life. This isn't a crack at the OP, just a general statement.

Had a similar experience myself, except it was one of those DUI checkpoints. I was literally a block away from my g/f's house but it says to "stay in lane" so I didn't want to look like I was avoiding the testing. Did all the field tests and passed but felt bad since it was like one of our first dates and she had to watch me take this stupid field sobriety test.

correct....also saying it backwards is really just movie ****. You might get asked to say the alphabet from say j to v just to see if you can start and stop.

Also there is really nothing wrong with sitting outside of a bar and getting the DUI people. Thats like saying if a cop sits outside of a bank and sees a guy rob it he cant stop him because its profiling. If its illegal its illegal....

Yup. When you have to plant a friend due to drunk driving you change your perspective.

actually the scent of alcohol on your breath is due to the quality of the alcohol. beer leaves a much stronger sent due to how its distilled. a premuim vodka is almost scentless on your breath. so one beer can smell alot more than several premium vodka drinks.

no i understand, i just wanted to say its a common misconception that the odor of alcohol on your breath has anything to do with your state of intoxication. hey even the cops can be wrong.

yeah but most if you have alcohol on your breath since you have been drinking you shouldn't being driving. Its just one of a few ways to see if you should be put threw further testing. When you say the words if your breath smells or you slur the letters then you know that you should do a field sobriety test. It has nothing to do with seeing how drunk you or or what you drank.....

I'd fail one of those tests stone cold sober, I can't stand on one leg nor can I walk in a straight line going heal to toe. I always wanted to get one of those so I could sue a police department, lol
